I cannot blame the Russians really ... The English fans are turning the whole city into a wasteland by not removing their empty beer bottles from the street. I'd also beat the sh*t out of these uncivilized polluters there. Or the Russians simply realized how much more alcohol the English were able to drink than the Russians themselves ...

@BBCMarkSimpson: Six NI fans injured in Nice. One NI fan arrested. Police say French hooligans caused trouble. Small number of NI fans retaliated. #Euro2016

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36506917

BBC Sports editor Dan Roan tweeted: "Big questions for UEFA here. Stampede appears to have been triggered by explosion. How did such a device make it inside and where was segregation?"

I did hear a bang before the Russia goal and, apparently, it was a firework. A bit concerning that something like that could get brought into the stadium with all of the safety checks...

I should have realized that Turkey would be playing with home advantage before predicting Croatia would win.

BEAUTIFUL result today! Schweini's goal brought a tear to my eye. Glad I was wearing his shirt today.

As I tried to say a couple days ago, but it apparently didn't post: I think Germany will win, but I would not be surprised if France, Belgium, or Spain win instead.

Predictions for today (only a few games, so I won't get bored by the end and start having fun with them Tongue):

Spain 1-0 Czech Republic
Rep. of Ireland 0-2 Sweden
Belgium 1-0 Italy

Fun fact: Italy only have 2 players on their team who have scored more than 5 international goals: Chiellini, a center-back, and De Rossi, a defensive midfielder. I think Italy is between generations (they have 8 players older than England's oldest player, and Pirlo isn't even on the team anymore), while Belgium should be the best they've ever been (if and only if their streaky attacking players such as Hazard and Lukaku show up).

Oh gosh, our defense is playing like hot garbage. We don't deserve to win this one (if we do, knock on wood) - if only Belgium got an opportunity on net.

0-2 Austria/Hungary

Well, what a disaster ... (but not totally unexpected).

I thought Hungary would be a bit weaker, but they were really good. Austria's technical skills were much better a year ago, today they just flopped.

Slovakia looked very comfortable at 2-0, Russia have just scored and the Slovak defence looks very shaky at the moment. Could be an interesting final ten minutes in this game.
