While researching the carried interest loophole debate, I came across this article which states comes just short of outright stating that Schumer is Wall Street's water carrier in Congress, and it seems nothing has changed since 2007. Now, if the Democrats retake the Senate, he's poised to be Senate Majority Leader. Is it too late to primary him? Why hasn't he faced a stronger progressive challenge in this heavily Democratic state?

Because he's perfectly progressive and the #FeelTheBern wing of your party is delusional.

Schumer is a man, you see. Just like how the left went all out against Blanche Lincoln in 2010 but let Mark Pryor run unopposed.

"Pro-Wall Street Democrats" are only comparatively less anti-Wall Street than Democrats of the Bernie variety.

Chuck Schumer is actually pro-wall street, like most Democrats...

Yeah, his stance on the Iran deal showed that he isn't even close to being progressive. If he had the views he did and represented, say, Mississippi, along with not being on the verge of speaking for all Senate Democrats, then he would be decent enough.

Though, to be fair, most all of the Democratic establishment in the Senate is relatively pro-Wall Street, you won't find many progressives other than socially among them.

Because Schumer is absolutely able to quash ANY attempt of "progressive challenge" and "progressives" know that perfectly well.

Chuck Schumer is exactly the kind of Senator the people of New York deserve. After all, they voted Al D'Amato out of office just for this clown. So yeah, they get what they deserve.

D'Amato is a goon, so Schumer's obviously preferable to him.

Chuck Schumer is the sort of Democrat I would happily vote for, so take that however you want.

+100. Such "progressives" as above don't stop to amaze me - they have nothing common with  reality, wishful thinking only))))

Far left extreme Democrats are now no better than far right extreme Republicans. Anyone who isn't 100% aligned with your views should be primaried. Sad state of affairs. This country is so f--cked.

Al DMato was set to impeach Bill Clinton, not what New Yorkers wanted

Schumer recruited Arlen Specter to cross over to Dems, and Specter supported Bush W tax cuts. While Schumer voted for Wall Street bailouts.

The two agree on comprehensive immigration reform. AND both are lawyers. They share similarities and conservatives were fine with Specter.

+100. I said the same hundred times.... Both on Democratic and Republican sites like DKE and RRH. Results? Usually - ban. They don't want to hear unpleasant things about themselves - an "echo chamber" is much preferable for both. And they are still surprised that so many people are like me, and strongly dislike both of them)))))

Sounds like this is an unpopular opinion, but I think everyone should be primaried.  Uncontested elections are a travesty to democracy.  If an incumbent is so great, nobody should be worried about them losing.

It's hard to take a political party seriously when they allow someone who openly worked so hard to sabotage one of their president's key accomplishments to gain such stature in the party.

He did the exact opposite. He voted his conscience only after ensuring that there were enough votes that his vote wouldn't affect things. He was rewarded by his President calling for him to lose his new position.

We know why.
