This is why Clinton does so much better in caucuses.

I think, the economy, which shows slow growth, isnt bad enough to elect a GOP prez, but Latino & Black voters who are in low wage union, non govt work, factories,  are underemployed

Part of this is probably the fact that they're more optimistic about their candidate's chances (for good reason, obviously).

I assure you that some of the Clinton supporters on this website are very enthusiastic. Unfortunately, in good ol' Landslide Lyndon's case, it's in a bad way.

Other than the fact that this is one poll, I would also mention that this is based on Democrats, and thus doesn't include all of Sanders' supporters.

Oh, I'm sure that Republicans are very enthusiastic with the prospect of him being the Democratic nominee.

Yeah, that's totally what I meant. Everyone who isn't a Democrat is obviously a Republican, and by "Sanders supporters", I must've been referring to ironic Sanders supporters.

The poll is among Democrats and Democratic leaners. Who else should they include?

If you actually believe this, you must huff glue.

I don't think there's that much of an enthusiasm gap nor do I think the gap particularly matters but it's pretty clear that Sanders' base is much more excited than Clinton's base. This is why Sanders has more volunteers, does better in caucuses, has a more committed small donor base etc. You can't have it both ways: either Sanders' supporters are cult members or they're not that enthusiastic about him.

Maybe Sanders' BASE is more enthusiastic than Clinton's base, but among the wider universe of all their supporters I don't think that's the case. A significant amount of Sanders' support comes from reflexive opposition to Obama and the woman who worked for him, rather than enthusiastic support for Sanders himself.

There are different types and intensities of enthusiasm.

Sanders' base of people under 30 is very intense, while Hillary's wider and more numerous base of people over 35 is a milder, more determined kind of enthusiasm.

Social media is important to spread your message, but on election day, keyboard enthusiasm does not translate into actual votes.

Is this a question about enthusiasm about the election rather than the candidate?

Do I honestly need a citation to prove any of my points?

I'm willing to accept Lief's argument to a degree, if only because there are far more Hillary supporters than Bernie supporters and even if a smaller percentage of Hillary supporters are very enthusiastic about her, that percentage might trump the number of Sanders' supporters who are very enthusiastic about him.

What was their methodology for determining likely voters?  How did they determine Dem-leaning indies?  Did they poll cell phones as well as landlines?

If only the first post of this thread included a link to a single page which answers all those questions. Alas.

What a terribly skewed poll. How can Democrats possibly be more enthusiastic about supporting a neoliberal warmongering corporatist as opposed to the progressive democratic socialist who ISN'T on Wall Street's payroll? I call foul!

Perhaps it's because not everyone has been brainwashed by the mischaracterizations of Hillary coming from Bernie Sanders and his frothing-at-the-mouth supporters...
