This news is a few weeks old now, but I don't see it posted in the thread: Sasse is headed to Iowa on July 7th, where he will be the keynote speaker at a dinner for Story County Republicans:

http://www.amestrib.com/news/20170523/sen-sasse-to-headline-story-county-gop-dinner

Note that while the story says the event will be in "Nevada", that's Nevada the town in Iowa, not Nevada the state.

Two early primaries/caucuses in one! No point in holding an election, Sasse has this in the bag!

Unfortunately for Sasse, he is no Chuck Hagel, and the political opportunity structure for him is narrower than trying to thread a small piece of string through the eye of a needle for a Republican from the Western realms of the Midwest in the current Republican Presidential environment....

Could see him doing ok in Iowa however if Trump's popularity collapses in the Western MidWest, and if there aren't a ton of evangelical Pubs running in the race, he might have some street cred heading into SC and the Southlands....

He's extremely boring which...might be an advantage in 2020 when Americans are hopefully tired of a blowhard?

Well arguably most of the current crop of potential 2020 Democratic Presidential contenders might well be classified as "boring", not to even bring up potential Republican contenders in 2020 if Trump is still Pres and someone chooses to run against (Kasich, Rubio?).

Americans might well be tired of a reality TV show come 2020, and boring would likely be an asset in both parties.

Still, plenty of time to go, and I am firmly convinced we are not done with the political roller-cycle ride that started about two years back, so who knows what we will all be saying 1-2 years from now.

He said what Bernie kind of said before 2016, he will run if there are no strong progressive voices left. Important thing to note is that Merkley & Warren both have said they support a Single Payer in recent things. I expect Gillibrand to join in & O'Malley will go wherever the wind blows.

Cory Booker started a sit-in on the steps of the Capitol with John Lewis (broadcast live on Facebook, of course), where they talked about the AHCA and brought in random passerbys for their thoughts. I have no idea how, but it evolved into a huge 3 and a half hour rally/protest, with a reported crowd of 400+ people, 8 or 9 Democratic senators showing up (including Murphy, Schumer, and Gillibrand), and a lot of Democratic activist leaders and senators giving speeches and impromptu speeches. The Facebook live video has 725k views, 17k likes, and 10k shares.

I watched a good hour of the beginning, and it was honestly just him and Lewis talking. A small line had started to form by that point, so they brought in random families/walkers to talk about their opinion on the AHCA. At one point, a Delaware family came, and I guess a Coons' staffer heard about this because Coons himself popped over for a bit. After that, Brian Schatz joined, followed by Gillibrand, and pretty soon a good quarter of the Democratic caucus was showing up. The crowd got bigger and bigger as well, growing from a few dozen people to about a hundred an hour in and 400+ (reported) by the end at nearly midnight.

Anyway, Booker gave a speech at the end that brought the house down. Don't really know how else to say it but he's really, really good at this. Evoked Langston Hughes, the Gospel of Matthew, "liberty and justice for all," and it seemed like he absolutely owned the crowd. Also impressive that he held the iPhone camera for a couple hours himself before the other senators started taking turns doing the recording.

(Appropriately right before he started his speech he was getting heckled by a protester that he managed to shut down)

Cuomo held a fundraiser for his reelection last night, but spent much of the night talking about issues at the federal level:

According to various people in Martin Heinrich's political orbit, there is no planned run for president in 2020 in the offing:

I can't emphasize how good the ending speech on the live stream was. Was never a huge Booker fan, but that speech turned my head.

Also, there were a ton of prospective 2020 candidates in the video making speeches.
