Generally, yes, but there could be exceptions.  Like if you had never really understood (or heard) the GOOD arguments from the other side and only ever blasted the bad arguments.  Then one day, someone you respect explains, using small words, the good argument.  One could do a 180 then and not be spineless.


edit-of course that is rare, and if you keep going back and forth, you should probably take sh**t for that, and if you have different opinion on the subject depending on the audience, well that's worse than being a flip flopper.

I've voted FF in every single opinion thread I've clicked on. Ever person so far has had something that makes me give them the benefit of the doubt, or seems like an agreeable feller. But this may be my first neutral vote.

I think everyone has some good and some bad in them--presuming everyone to be good due to a few good traits is just as erroneous as presuming everyone wretched due to a few flaws.

Although I totally share the "benefit of the doubt" tendency with you--I can only think of two HP votes I've cast for other forumites, although I feel I'm forgetting one. Another factor is that I like interesting people, so most posters that are labelled "annoying" I find intriguing.

Bullying =/= telling someone their sh**t views are sh**t.

An important part of the internet is understanding that there are real-life people behind every username--and also understanding that some of those people have abhorrent views on some things, and there's nothing wrong with expressing disapproval for said abhorrent views.
