Absolutely no surprise when Mitt is hated by the Trump sect of his own party as well as all Democrats.

But damn are those numbers ugly for him.

Ryan could beat Clinton. Romney/Ryan redux could defeat Clinton. Yes, the Trump supporters may stay home, but Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan could flip.

These numbers arent not only harsh on Trump, but House and Senate races will become more of a focal point for Dems in the Fall, as Dems look to close out the Trumpster, and win Congressional seats.

Ive always stated that Dems have the 272 votes to win the election. But, Ohio has consistently voted with the winning candidate since 1964 and Trump polls much like Romney, and it is highly likely Dems will capture that too.

Yeah Kasich doing so well in these polls is an artifact of being propped up as the Serious Republican (not that it's particularly hard to look good with his two opponents being who they are). 47% of the sample thinks he's a moderate and he has a positive favorability rating among Democrats. Things would change if he found himself in the spotlight.

Kasich has really earned the VP slot on the TRUMP train.

It doesn't seem like it was just the Trump wing of the Republicans reacted to him on that - I think a lot of Republicans who are neutral or even tilt negative about Trump felt his speech was condescending, elitist, and unbecoming.

Because he wouldn't?
Because he has ran a joke campaign?
Because nobody has laid a finger on him?
Because even the Republican establishment doesn't like him?

Uh, are you arguing that Cruz and Trump would be stronger candidates than Kasich?

Who knows? Cruz maybe.
But judging from his bumbling primary campaign, Kasich certainly isn't the GE juggernaut many seem to believe.

the scenario where Kasich becomes nominee would utterly destroy his popularity in the process.

Kasich is doing well because the other four candidates are locked in a bitter primary while poor old John Kasich is getting called Mr Reasonable by the media and nobody attacks him at all

Others:

Obama 47-48 (probably good enough for re-election were he running)
Congress 13-79 (looks like a climate for a military coup in some countries)
Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Leader 16-64 (horrible)
Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House 37-44 (awful)

Vote for "your district" -- Democrats and Republicans are  tied at 43 (ties go to the Republican due to gerrymandering)

I find it hilarious that people will come up with all sorts of improbable or even impossible scenarios for a GOP POTUS win, but will automatically discount or poo poo the only viable scenario, with Kasich as the candidate.

Yes. Kasich is doing well for the same reason Bernie is - no one cares so no one's attacked him.
