N/A.

The constant barrage of comic book movies is a top ten indicators of the decline of the republic.

What counts as Marvel? Anything involving characters owned by Marvel, or just MCU movies?

As far as MCU, these are my favorite 5 in no particular order:

Iron Man
Avengers
Guardians of the Galaxy
Age of Ultron
Winter Soldier

While Thor is my favorite Avenger, I genuinely do not like his movies, especially Dark World. I almost went with Ant-Man instead of Winter Soldier, because I am not a fan of the Hydra storylines. Captain America could have been my favorite, and then Schmidt turned into Red Skull and took off in that anachronistic plane. Iron Man 3 was also great, until the Mandarin turned out to be fake and the villain was really those people with the messed up bodies and then Pepper Potts turned into one as well. It was such a letdown.

While I know these are supposed to be superhero movies, I appreciate it when I feel like the threat could actually happen in real life. That's what I feel made the Dark Knight movies so great.

As far as a non-MCU movie, it has to be Deadpool.

I see no point in making the distinction between MCU and non-MCU, since most of my favorites were made before the big executive farce came to be anyway. So:

5. Captain America: The First Avenger (the only post-2008 movie actually worth watching a second time)

4. Iron Man

3. X2: X-Men United

2. Spider-Man

1. Spider-Man 2 (The gold standard for all superhero films)

Honorable Mention: X-Men (It's just a bit dated now and not quite as polished as the 5 above, but it's still better than pretty all the MCU besides Iron Man and Captain America)

I'm boycotting all superhero movies until they back Sam Raimi and Toby McGuire

Do you mean strictly MCU or any Marvel franchise adaptation? Because the lists are going to be pretty different (I'm not a MCU fan at all).
