I am especially interested in the maps showing how badly she trounces him...

If PA is close then Hillary because I despise Christofascists. If not, best third party candidate on the ballot. We'll see.

Cruz is a garden variety hack who would provide some anti-Islamist terror protection.  Hildebeast is self-serving and evil.

Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton.

I would never ever vote for that hardcore right-winger.

Islamist terrorism in the U.S. scare is rapidly becoming a modern variation of the Red Scare.

Clinton. Ted Cruz is a combination of all the worst elements of each faction of the modern Republican Party, and a smug jerk.

I'd vote Cruz. The map would be a garden-variety narrow D win (my prediction says Cruz wins all Romney states plus Florida, Ohio, Iowa, but these sort of specifics are hard to forecast before Labor Day), and the popular vote would be a near tie (that favors Democrats in the EC, though). There would be no historic landslide, as there would be with trump. Republicans lose a net 1-3 Senate seats and 10-15 seats in the House, leaving firm control of both Houses, the impassibility of any of Hillary's agenda, and the outside chance of a veto-proof majority in 2019.

It will be a national referendum on shutting down the government and Hillary will win because:

It won't be a national referendum on shutting down the government because the only sort of people who care about the government getting shut down vote Democratic anyway.

lol. If this is the attitude the GOP is taking this November, we're probably looking at +400 EVs for Hillary.

If he can re-frame the entire debate as the following:

"Hillary Clinton represents the establishment.  She represents the elite.  The status quo.  A government that doesn't care about you, supported by Big Media and Big Business that doesn't care about you.  From the moment I came to Washington, I have fought against this elite establishment in both parties."

...his record of shutting down the government may actually work in his favor.

This is objective truth. Ted Cruz won't be running on a platform of shutting down the government, but "he shut down the government a few years back" isn't going to be an effective line of attack because not just Republicans, but also those who can be persuaded to vote Republican, just don't care. And it's not as effective at getting out the Democratic vote as various identity-politics Republicans-are-racist dog-whistles.

That seems excessive but I agree that it's not a meaningful drag on his campaign.

The Cruz campaign will be all about excess.  And he will not run "as a Republican" per se.  He will run as a radical reformer and point to his record as someone who does what's necessary to upset the status quo.  The GOP is going to be in for a shock and have a severe case of buyer's remorse if they nominate him.

At least, if I were in charge of the Cruz campaign, this is the direction I would go.  He would need to make sure he's still a "true conservative," but one who is an outsider who is going to blow the system sky high.  Steal some pages out of Bernie Sanders's book about how the economy is rigged and the political system is rigged, that's why YOU are struggling, and he's just the man to fix it.

Utter. Fiction. But that is the avenue of attack against Clinton.

The only Republican I would vote for is TRUMP. Rafael is the last person I want to be in the White House.
