Considering what the crime bill (which then Representative Sanders voted for) did, this is accurate.

The full clip is at the bottom. Maybe this is a lesson that we shouldn't rely on the Weekly Standard for unbiased reporting of Bill Clinton.

I still don't see how Bill Clinton is being racist. He enacted policy with the goal of reducing crime (which disproportionately impacts communities of color) with the support of said communities and their elected representatives, and in his opinion, said policy helped save black lives. He has a right to defend himself and his legacy, especially when the protester says that he should be charged for crimes against humanity for putting gangbangers in jail.

You know what's funnier than this thread.  How much you guys are blowing it out of the water.  No one is talking about this.  First you used a clickbait headline, which is wrong.  Get over yourselves and stop aguring over the internet and get lives.  Does nothing exept make you look like fools.

To be fair, this happened like 2-3 hours ago. Give it a bit of time: I imagine it'll be popping by tomorrow.
Yes, and Sanders will get 28% of the black vote in Georgia.

The 1994 crime bill didn't even have a huge impact on federal incarceration rates, so perhaps Bill Clinton is warranted in demanding these protesters (who basically were just calling him and Hillary murderers) tell the whole truth.

lol, people who think the 1994 crime bill was responsible for mass incarceration are either totally clueless or total f_cking liars (like the Deranged Canuck, as usual). Most likely, the crime prevention provisions, when combined with the urban renewal policies that began in the early-/mid-1980s and began to bear fruit by the early-1990s, plus policing reforms modeled after Hartford, Connecticut's, is what began the decline in crime.

But who cares about facts, just another thing to slam the Clintons on, right?

Here's a summary of the 1994 bill, by the way: https://www.ncjrs.gov/txtfiles/billfs.txt

I always marvel when people state that the 1994 crime bill created mass incarceration as fact and go unchallenged when it is so demonstrably false.

This may have killed the blm movement.   If a former dem president  ( a popular one) is slapping you down.

BLM for the most part has fizzled out. We'll see if they can translate their movement into political victory in upcoming elections (Baltimore and maybe St. Louis), but I really am skeptical. The protesters have alienated most of the black establishment with their propensity for violence, and they angered their white liberal allies by calling them racist without proposing any meaningful solution to systemic racism.

I'm really amazed by how the Democratic Party has turned on its most recent former president.

It's almost like if it were 1976 and Dwight Eisenhower were still alive and Reagan Republicans were calling him a tax-and-spend crypto-socialist as he campaigned for Gerald Ford.
Considering his sky high approval ratings among Democrats, the party has certainly not turned on Bill Clinton, despite the wishes of True Leftists.
