For me it's almost a tossup but i'd have to give Cruz the slight edge if only because he's a true believer wheras Trump is just an opportunist. Though honestly both are likely to start WWIII if given the chance. Trump because he's a loudmouth and Cruz because he wants to being on Armagedon.

Not a leftist, but I imagine Trump would be preferable from a leftist perspective, since they both have similar views on immigration and Cruz seems to be further to the right on other issues.

For me, certainly appears to be Cruz by miles.

I agree with Trump on a number of things, actually, and I very much appreciate that he is not "polished" (may be my reaction to Obama being a bit of a flop in my mind) and that Trump is very much from outside the political cliques/cults/etc.

Cruz, obviously.

Trump, for all of his racist demagoguery, has no plans to gut the social safety net. Cruz does.

Trump stands only for himself and the acquisition of more attention. Cruz is a far-right ideologue who has spent a career steeped in the excesses of the worst kind of politics.

Trump is actually correct on the trade issue and campaign finance. There are no issues I can find agreement on with Cruz.

Trump, as awful as he is, is at least sometimes entertaining to watch. Cruz is an odious slimeball whose personality would make the four years of his presidency an unbearable ordeal.
