Kasich and Rubio have been giving pretty much Shermanesque denials when asked if they would take the VP spot. I don't know if I buy it. And I get that Kasich in particular has incentive not to act like that's his plan. But if they do want the slot, it strikes me as counter-productive to deny it so strongly.

What do you think?

Kasich wants to remain a viable presidential candidate for as long as possible; just like JFK, he knows the VP talk is largely to undermine his credibility.

Rubio, I think, is legitimately burned out and depressed.  Won't be seeing him no more.

I'm starting to think Kasich actually doesn't want it-he's a grumpy git sometimes and didn't need to run to get it. Rubio however needs it to try and pull of a John Edwards

I think that they each have different reasons.

Rubio is truly burnt out and probably needs a break.  With that said, I believe that he would jump at an opportunity to be VP for the right nominee (read not Trump or Cruz).

I do believe that Kasich does not want to be VP to either Cruz or Trump (although he may agree to help someone like Ryan) but you never know.

If you really want to get into conspiracy theories, I posted an interesting story from HuffPost, in another thread, about Kasich and Rubio possibly colluding (...Marco Rubio has deliberately held onto his 172 delegates so that he can create a unity ticket with John Kasich in Cleveland — a (Kasich/Rubio) ticket that will begin with somewhere between 350 and 600 delegates on the first ballot at the Convention, depending upon how many delegates John Kasich wins going forward....).

Kasich has a pretty damn good job already as a popular governor of a key swing state. I see no reason why he would abandon that to be VP.

Rubio on the other hand will be unemployed come next year.

Not hard to see who wants the VP slot and who doesnt.
