it seems all political message boards - whether dem leaning or republican leaning hate Trump. Maybe its self-selection since trump supporters aren't particularly ideological.

I guess the Atlas misogynist vote might need some time to coalesce around one candidate.

There are some here, but most probably only support him ironically.

As someone who believes we should open our borders and liberalize immigration, encourage open (but fair) trade, vastly scale back our military, make abortion legal in all cases and easily available, and participate in broad and binding international agreements to combat the global emergency of climate change, I can't really say Donald Trump is my guy.

That's off the top of my head, areas where we disagree.  I could get into more, but I don't have time.  I'm going to ignore the horrible nature of his rhetoric.

My views are probably fringe on the Atlas, though.

I support his efforts against the insanity of the radical left and our lying media, I love his smackdowns of the other candidates and his style, and I agree with him on several issues.  But I don't think he would make a good president; on that front I support Hillary.  Sort of like I support the seahawks and rooted against the panthers, but damn it, it's hard not to love Cam Newton sometimes.

I supported Trump until I realized he was a reprehensible human being leading a group of psychotic supporters.

Slight modification, to express my preference.  Smiley

How do you know he wasn't acting about that issue too?

Left wing political supporters are more verbose.

Right wing political supporters tend to keep their thoughts behind closed doors.

I like the way Donald Trump has turned the Republican party on its head.

The US political system is corrupted by 'special interests' and corporate donors. People will look past Trumps' obvious issues to get these things fixed.

It's probably the main reason i like Bernie as well.

The US electoral system is corrupt to the core.

USA should elect Sanders in 2016 and Trump in 2020.

One racks up the foreign debt, and the next one does not pay it back.

No, I am supporting TRUMP (unironic supporter), though I don't agree with all of his positions (like health care, minimum wage, some social issues, deport all illegals). But I think the idea of having a successfull businessman in the White House is really interesting. And I like that he's self-funding, an authentic person with a good sense of humor and has some good ideas on foreign policy.

Except for the climate change part, this guy is the polar opposite of me.

I supported Trump in the GOP primary.  I haven't made up my mind about the GE, other than I will vote for Trump if it looks like he's going to lose by a landslide.

He has to be the least authentic person we've seen in decades. The number of lies he tells is unrivaled by any other politicians. And as for his business success - I suppose he has lots of money right now, but a number of his businesses have gone through bankruptcies and his other main business seems to be lending his name to whatever he can get it on. He's hardly the businessman of the century here. So if we're basing his presidential potential even remotely on that record, then he would be a terrible president.

And if you're one of those career Trump-trollers, then tbh it's not even funny anymore. It's stupid, and it's been that way for a long time now.

yes i also support a politician while disagreeing with basically every policy position that they've laid out, because that's a very sensible thing to do

although i honestly wouldn't expect anything else from someone who claims to be both "progressive" and "fiscally conservative", which makes even less sense than voting for a politician while disagreeing with their major policies

I abhor his rhetoric, disagree with his isolationist foreign policy and don't like the idea of electing someone without government experience, but I am coming around to him. I do not believe that America can be "great" like the post-war years when the rest of the world was shattered by war, but my number one issue is increasing the level of assimilation and (cultural/religious) homogeneity in America, and I think Trump is the best candidate to make that happen. If that requires social/governmental pressure and tough rhetoric, the ends justify the means.

I'm currently leaning towards voting for Clinton because of her foreign policy, but I'm constantly flirting with the idea of supporting Trump in the general. The world would be a better place with a Clinton presidency relative to a Trump presidency, but I'm not convinced America would be.

I am a Republican, and I will never vote for trump. Let him take his RINO fascist ideas to the dustbin of history. They'll fit right in next to socialism.

Interesting. The foundation of this Trump supporter's ideology is the exact opposite. I'm sick of the assimilation being pushed by the left, and I think we need to embrace the individual cultures.

The left doesn't support assimilation at all... they support a militant secular mosaic society under the guise of pluralism. This model may work in a tiny plastic dictatorship like Singapore, but it results in Balkanization in a "real country". As an immigrant myself, I'm all for tolerance of ethnic and religious minorities, but I firmly believe that the Anglosphere's greatness is in part due to their shared liberalism and Christian morality, and I don't think multiculturalism is helpful in that regard.

I have similar thoughts.

His rhetoric is terrible, but he brings up good points about protectionism and isolationism.  Clinton just seems too establishment.  I really don't know who to vote for.
