As you may know (or not), there will likely be a runoff between the left-leftist Green candidate and the Far-Right candidate from the FPÖ for President next month (assuming they place 1st and 2nd in the first round on April 22).

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=221414.msg5015286#msg5015286

This has never happened before of course.

A runoff map between Greens and FPÖ should look really cool and I'm trying to predict which regions of the country will vote Green and which ones FPÖ over the weekend ...

Any predictions yourself about how the different regions might vote in such a scenario ?

Currently, it looks like the Green Party and FPÖ candidates will reach the runoff. Hofer (FPÖ) definitely has the momentum right now and might even win the 1st round and VdB is a lock too (unless there's some overpolling for the Greens, which happened in the past).

Griss is a few points behind in 3rd place, but everything is still possible of course. It's hurting Griss that there are 4 candidates competing for the centrist, center-right and far-right vote - but only 2 candidates competing for the center-left vote.

Hmm ... maybe something like this ?

This is assuming a rather close race, with VdB beating Hofer by about 54-46 or something.

Turnout could be higher than in Round 1, maybe between 70-75%.

Let's see if Cranberry agrees or not ...

He can't even make it look semi-plausible. Come on, what party would name itself "FPÖ". "Ö" is a made up letter.

Nah, he just copied it from the Swedes. Can't even bother to make it original.

You could just keep stuff like that in the existing Austria thread, Tender - people that don't go there likely won't bother anyway, so it's no use flooding other boards with stuff that's interesting to three/four people.

So, you too Antonio are buying into this silly "Austria is a made-up country" thing ?

I'm really disappointed ... Tongue

I don't understand your criticism ...

There are like 50.000 threads here about maps from all kinds of US elections, Canadian elections and what else and even a ton of hypothetical ones - but I'm not allowed to create 1 single thread about a Green/FPÖ map ?

LOLz.

What do you mean? I come from the center of the civilized world. I know there's nothing but barbarian tribes on the other side of the Alps. Tongue

Well yes, obviously, since it's an American forum, and not an Austrian one. People just won't care, so keep it to the existing Austrian thread, we really don't need more.

I for one am interested in Austrian politics, although I know little about it. Anyway, does the far-right guy have a chance? I hope not.

Why did Austria decide to shape itself like a chicken drumstick? Especially with a country literally named 'hungry' next door...

If you take a closer look, "Austria" outline look like a poor man's drawing of Kentucky outline.

Not much originality, again...

He has a good chance to get into the run-off, that at least is for sure. What happens in the runoff so far is anyone's guess, as a) we don't know who will end up there as well and b) we have never really had a situation like that before (with (most likely) neither SPÖ not ÖVP involved).

Its sad that threads about imaginary country are more popular than threads about Poland :I
