If he does in the near future (i.e. this year) then it would not be over the Panama issue.

He'd soon be gone no matter what in the event of a Brexit vote, though he'd probably be pushed before he jumped.

He's planning on resigning before 2020 anyway, isn't he?

I hope so, but sadly not. Hopefully the Brexit referendum will pass and he'll be forced to resign, but I am skeptical it will.

It'd be fairly ridiculous if he was somehow made to resign over his dad being a sketchy businessman.

Its more the toxic PR mess that he's managed to create out of it for himself (is this ironic or apt given that he used to be a PR man? Undecided). All he had to do was say that a) he is not his father b) if he has benefited from his father's questionable actions then he is mortified and the story would have died on day one. This he did not do (and hilariously he continues to insist that his father did nothing wrong) and so here we are...

...there's also the hypocrisy question. I.e. he'll have known his entire adult life about what sort of a man his father was and what sort of things he got up to, and yet was happy to play the Moral Crusader when a bunch of celebrities were outed as having questionable tax arrangements a few years back.

Maybe he should just diddle a pig again. This time on live TV.

Except that he's spent his time in office being a staunch advocate for sketchy businessmen being able to stash money offshore with as few obstacles or inconveniences as possible.

Nah, he'll probably be gone anyway by 2018, so the next leader has time to establish himself ahead of the 2020 election.

Well, not quite. More the opposite, in fact. Which is the problem.

No, but he'll be forced to resign for either

1) Being humiliated in a referendum
2) Outraging his party by helping rig a referendum

The EU is an important issue but it is really stunning to see how badly the Tory Party keeps jerking itself off over it. They could take note from the Labour Party on how to not self-destruct over this- again.

He stated last year he'd resign by 2018.

As for the question, I can see him jumping ship if the UK secedes from the EU, but otherwise not yet.

Also, if he does resign, who do you think will become PM? Johnson? May? Osborne?

I most certainly hope not. Despite my disagreements with him on a few key issues I  strongly view him as a FF.

That's not even remotely true. If it was he'd actually be in less of a PR mess at the moment.

What? Why? Who would give that up?

Apparently, it's part of Cameron's desire to be the first Tory PM to retire at a time of his own choosing and on his own terms since (I believe) Stanley Baldwin. Of course, it would seem of all that is moot if the EU Referendum is lost.

During last campaign, he said it would be his last campaign and would pass the hand around 2 years before the end of his term.

That's dumb.

"Hey guys so my party has a majority outright and we can do anything we want for the next 5 years but I'm just going to resign halfway through because reasons"

Not exactly; it's a way of heading off an actual leadership challenge.
