Sure, there are lots of overlap between the two groups and their ideologies. But in general, I think Cruz supporters are probably a more decent bunch. Extreme social conservatives have some views which are rather unpleasant, and I'm sure the majority of Cruz supporters are xenophobic in many ways. But I find Trump's "moderate" voters, who are rather indifferent to social issues but blame all of their problems on immigrants and foreign countries as an especially deplorable group.

I believe Cruz's supporters xenophobic views come from genuine though irrational fears, while Trump's supporters are the types who want to see groups they don't like "get theirs".

Most actual Cruz supporters (IE, people who wanted him to run circa 2013) now back Trump, and all the Marcobots and establishment wannabes who are completely unaware of the angry undercurrent in America are backing him now.

So obviously, I back the actual Americans. The Trumpsters.

Trump supporters. While I can't say that they're "my people", they're the kind of forgotten people who got me interested in politics in the first place. Yes, many of them are uninformed and some are extreme, but they deserve to be heard.

That's a hard one. Probably still Drumpf supporters, at least in terms of the average one who doesn't attend to rallies or isn't particularly involved.

The thing about Drumpf though is that he's actively corrupting the people he appeals to. He's making them worse, culturally and morally. The Cruz people ("movement conservatives" etc) have been awful for a long time and won't be any more or less awful because of him.

I guess I'd vote Trump supporters, since a large chunk of Cruz supporters are, in fact, the reason Trump supporters are so Trump-ish.

Okay, definitely the latter, especially considering what your definition of "hating poor people" probably is.

Trump Supporters can support him for a variety of reasons, Cruz supporters on the other hand support despicable anti-poor, anti-worker positions.

I suppose to those who despise economic individualism and the rejection of economic egalitarianism in favor of rewarding success/merit, this might be a hard choice ... but I don't see how you could see that worldview as worse than a candidate who is openly inciting so much divisiveness on racial and cultural grounds just because he throws a few buzz words that sound populists with no plans to do anything anywhere close to what you probably want economically.

Well I mean, Ted Cruz also does that. And Cruz cloaks himself around the whole "I'm a religious man who will shove religion down the throats of others via government" thing.

Religious zealots and free market worshipers are the people who drove me out of the GOP. I'll take the vile smorgasbord that is the Trump supporters any day and twice on Sunday.
