No, he is doing a service to his country by denying Trump any delegates he can possibly take from him.

Kasich probably helps Trump in Indiana by splitting the anti-Trump vote. That's probably the last state where Kasich helps Trump though. I can see Trump not wanting to compete with Kasich in very Democratic districts that would otherwise go easily to him in California.

April 26th is Kasich's last day to do anything delegate-wise, so he obviously should.

But it doesn't seem like he will.

Kasich staying-in all the way to the convention has three advantages.

1. He takes slightly more votes from trump than Cruz.
2. May keep trump from winning over 50% in some states/c.d.'s, which otherwise would "trigger" trump to win those specific delegates outright.
3. Gives him better standing, in the slight chance his name is considered in a contested convention.

And Trump should win Maryland.

I don't think Kasich should drop out if he loses every state on April 26th to Trump.

I think you guys are underestimating Kasich in Maryland. You guys have to remember that polls almost always overestimate Trump support. IIRC, most polls showed Trump crushing Rubio by double-digits (sometimes 20+ points) in Virginia, yet he only won by 3. A recent poll has shown that Trump is only leading Kasich by 10 points, which means that Kasich could actually be the candidate that's ahead in the state. I think that MD is a pure-toss up. Trump should win it though, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Kasich did.

He should absolutely get out. After the 26th he is only hurting Cruz, especially in Indiana.

He is not going to get the nomination if he only wins Ohio.

If he loses every state, he should, and will, drop out. If you can't meet the low bar of winning Rhode Island, you'd have to be crazy to stay in.

John Kasich has a better chance of beating Trump in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and Connecticut than he does of winning Rhode Island. PA, MD, DE, and CE are lean Trump states (MD is maybe a toss-up), while RI is safe Trump. RI and WV are going to be Trump's best states.

Anyone who unironically believes that John Kasich has a chance of winning RI should be given death points. Saying that Kasich has a chance of winning Rhode Island is equivalent to saying that Trump has a chance of winning Vermont in the general election.

Rhode Island will be one of Trump's best states on the 26th, though. The Republican electorate there will be like Massachusetts' Republican electorate on steroids.

Does Kasich really believe he's going to be the "knight in a shinning armor" coming to save the GOP at the convention, or he's trying to get a post in the next Republican administration?

Or he's just delusional?

The anti-trump vote here is uniting behind Cruz.

Kasich will drop out when he runs out of money. But I think enough NeverTrump people will keep him funded in May and June just to have him siphon votes from Trump and keep him below a majority.

One never has to "drop out", especially when there may be a second ballot scenario when they just may turn to you.  I've often wondered why Rubio doesn't get back in; he has more delegates than Kasich.

In May, you've got Indiana, where he presumably hurts Cruz...though I'm guessing not enough to make a large difference.

You also have Washington and Oregon later in the month, which are proportional.

On the whole, I think him staying in at least through May 24 hurts Trump more than helps him.

I very much so don't like my Governor, but like Cruz, most of Kasich's supporters favor Trump as their second. He's doing the country a favor by staying in. That said, it's only because he's delusional.

No,

Because if Donald implodes and it goes to a convention, he is still a chance.

I think he and Sanders should stay in 'til the end...

No he shouldn't and he is going to stay in all the way to the convention now that he won Ohio and i hope he does.

If its a contested convention and it gets to a 3rd ballot or 4th ballot he starts to have a chance at the nomination IMO.
