This is great news, and I hope he continues it. I sincerely hope this is not just a token effort to take heat off of his campaign for not helping the party.

Well, Jayapal is a worthy candidate. Tugboat Bugspray and Flores though, not so much.

I don't know about Flores, but I know there is a big push in the netroots for Teachout. I would be surprised if she didn't win her primary just based off how she dominated in the 2014 Gov primary in the district she's running in.

I know. Fetterman seems like he could surge any minute now, but Flores has no chance, and Teachout is barely relevant.

YEah but Teachout is running in a relative swing district, which kind of irks me.

Funny enough, Teachout should really be hoping Clinton wins and faces Cruz or Trump. Would probably be enough coattails to pull her over.

Jayapal is running for Jim McDermott's seat; that's all I know.

Why all the hate for Teachout? She's likely to be the Democratic nominee in a tossup seat.

Exactly the problem - we need someone who won't blow up the seat.

I think she might have more of a chance than your generic Dem.

Yeah, the idea that a moderate hero is automatically better at winning is ridiculous. In a different part of upstate NY, moderate hero Dan Maffei just lost a D+5 district by 19 points.

Sean Eldridge wasn't exactly a "moderate hero". He lost by almost thirty points in 2014. I don't think Teachout with coattails of Clinton as big as those of Cuomo in 2014 can make that up.

I strongly endorse the nominations of Lucy Flores and Zephyr Teachout, which will aid our party greatly in our efforts to maintain a nice, fat House majority. As for Jayapal, I guess now I'm backing Walkinshaw, or whoever her chief opponent is (?).

There are no Republicans yet. The Democrats running who have held office are Jayapal, Walkinshaw, and Joe McDermott (no relation).

Word is that Flores already raised 6 digits via Bernie. Bernie's page splits the donations evenly between the 3.

My money is on Walkinshaw. He's liberal enough to court some of the Jayapal/Sawant ur-left wing while enough of a team player to attract the VERY establishment-flavored Democrats who dominate Washington (and, in many cases, Seattle) politics. He'd be the favorite against Jayapal with all of the McDermott voters and the favorite against McDermott with all of the Jayapal voters. Just needs to make the runoff...

If I recall, Sean Eldridge was basically a snobby rich guy easily portrayed as trying to buy a seat. Teachout doesn't have the same profile beyond being from NYC. Plus, doing well against Cuomo in that area should provide some cushion from those sorts of portrayals.

Eldridge ran a pretty progressive campaign for such a moderate seat. She might win the primary, but I doubt her general election chances.

But again, a lot more went wrong with Eldridge's campaign than him running a progressive campaign. (like being a random out of touch rich guy who was a totally lightweight)
