So those in at least some level of consideration by Team Trump include:

Gingrich
Christie
Sessions
Corker
Pence
Burr
Cotton
Thune
Ernst
Fallin

Although how many of the last five or so people on that list are still in consideration at all is unclear.

Gingrich
Christie
Sessions
Corker
Pence
Burr
Cotton
Thune
Ernst
Fallin

Funny how Thune, despite being years younger and currently holding office, feels (to me at least) more of a yesterday's man than Gingrich.

Possibly because Thune has been floated as a possible veep before, in both '08 and '12, whereas no one was ever foolish enough to think of Gingrich as being veep material until now.

Wait, Richard Burr? What would happen happen with the NC Senate race if he was picked?

I think he could run for Vp and for senate simultaneously. and then a special election would be held after. correct me if North Carolina has a law preventing that

But is Burr really popular enough in North Carolina that he can get away with that?  Abandon the campaign trail in NC in order to go off and run nationally as Trump's running mate?  Sure, Lieberman in 2000, Biden in 2008, and Paul Ryan in 2012 all did the same, but they were all entrenched incumbents, very popular in their state/district, which had a partisan advantage for their party.  North Carolina is only lean R, and Burr isn't overwhelmingly popular there.  If he tries to run for VP and Senate simultaneously, isn't he likely to lose the Senate race?

Gingrich, who helped pass NAFTA in the 90s, has flip-flopped on trade, and now supports Trump's line on NAFTA, TPP, etc:

The AP confirms that at least Gingrich, Christie, Pence, and Sessions are still in the vetting process.  Also, Pence is set to meet with Trump this weekend:

I might be looking into it a bit too deeply, but "or something else" really seems like code for "he's not my first choice for VP."

We don't know.  The AP has only confirmed that Gingrich, Christie, Sessions, and Pence are being vetted.  But that doesn't rule out that there are others being vetted as well.  The WaPo said that Corker was on the larger list, being "reviewed as a viable pick", but that the extent to which he's being vetted right now is unclear.

The NYT has a few more tidbits:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/02/us/politics/donald-trump-vice-president.html?_r=0

-Trump met with Pence on Friday.

-Gingrich was just given vetting documents this past week.

-Post-Lewandowski, one newly appointed senior advisor with a significant internal role in the campaign is Kellyanne Conway, who is said to be close to both Gingrich and Pence.

-The possibility of Trump announcing his choice as early as next week is very real:

If Trump names his vice presidential running mate next week, then Christie is probably out of the running. He's on vacation in Italy. It might be Gingrich or Corker. Christie will probably be attorney general or Chief of Staff if Trump wins.

The Cruz Super PAC lady?  Good steal for Trump, I've always been impressed every time I've seen her.

That's a pretty safe bet, though knowing Trump, I doubt it's Corker.

I wonder when he rolls out his VP choice. You can't do it on Tuesday, July 5. Some Americans are still hung over from the long Independence Day weekend. Thursday or Friday? Maybe Saturday morning at Trump Tower? Or should he announce it in a swing state like Romney did with Paul Ryan in Virginia?

While I wouldn't be surprised by the choice of either Sessions, Gingrich or even Corker, I still think it will be Fallin. With her, Trump gets a Palin without the ego and, importantly for Trump, someone who will NOT counteract him.

Trump has a rally in Cincinnati at 7pm on Wednesday:

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/2016/07/02/trump-announces-visit-sharonville-convention-center/86636416/

I guess he's also announcing his convention speaker lineup on Wednesday.  I wonder if there's any chance of a VP announcement as well.
