Apparently Michael Flynn's registration as a Democrat might cause some ballot issues in Florida and West Virginia.

He'd likely change his registration to Republican.

Well according to Florida statute 99.021 2(b2), someone cannot qualify for the nomination of a party if that person has been registered to any other party a year beforehand.

You seriously think Florida's republican SOS is going to enforce that? In your dreams dude. And if you think "Dems will make him do it", think again. Taking Trump off the ballot will just give Johnson 20 to 30 percent of the vote in Florida because of people turning out for Rubio/the house who simply can't bring themselves to vote for a Dem for president. 20 to 30 percent of the vote in the third most populous state is a YUGE leg up to Johnson in getting to 5% nationally and securing the libertarian party federal funding in 2020. DEMS DON'T WANT THAT.

And as far as West Virginia goes, if Trump's not on the ballot, Johnson would actually win the state.

You really think West Virginia is going to vote for Clinton (or any Presidential D) under any circumstances when Obama, who she's running for a third term of, lost LITERALLY EVERY COUNTY, when Hillary is very anti-coal, when she lost LITERALLY EVERY COUNTY to a SOCIALIST, and when they gave a convicted prisoner over 40% of the vote in a low turnout primary against the incumbent president after he had already clinched renomination, in a time when the republican primaries were uncompetitive, in a contest that not a single media organization mentioned until after it happened?

So apparently the "formal" endorsement of Clinton by Sanders is coming on Tuesday.  If Trump is picking Pence as his running mate, should he announce it that day, when he's in Indiana anyway, in order to preempt the Sanders endorsement in the news coverage?  I mean, surely a VP pick would be deemed more newsworthy than an endorsement that we already know is coming, right?

Is anything known on Flynn's positions on other topics? Economy, trade, health care, social issues? If he's a Democrat, he may appeal to moderates and more liberal voters who dislike Hilldog.

Nothing is really known about Trump's positions on any issues so I doubt it matters. Tongue

I just meant that since he constantly contradicts himself and changes his mind back and forth we don't actually know anything about them.

Whoaaaaaa there you need to take a breather. I was literally just pointing at the fact that current state statutes could cause some potential hesitation on picking Flynn. Don't take my ball and run with it off a cliff.

Well, laws can be changed. The governor is a TRUMP backer and GOP controlls the legislative.

Here’s the video of Flynn’s new interview on ABC’s “This Week”:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvdAaygkBoU

He’s asked if he’s being vetted to be VP, and he says he doesn’t know.

At about the four minute mark, he’s asked about some social issues.  He rambles a bit on abortion, but if I’m hearing him right, it sounds like he’s pro-choice (“[Women] are the ones who have to make the decision”).  Then he dodges the same sex marriage question, but finally says he doesn’t really care about what people do in their private lives, and he doesn’t think it’s very important compared to things like national security.

I know that won't go well with most of the GOP. Maybe he'll pick Flynn for Secretary of Homeland Security or something.

Yeah, even a wishy-washy pro choicer choice as Veep could be the spark to ignite the brewing convention revolt against Trump, and at minimum will create a floor fight against Flynn.

I don't see how they could start the vetting process this late for a new possible running mate and have any confidence that it was thorough enough to find potential problems. If there is anything that could make Trump's campaign seem even more inept than it already is it would be having a named running mate withdraw like Eagleton in 1972.

why would a general with any self-respect join the ticket with a candidate who has actually uttered the words "I love war"?

It looks like Pence will be attending the Tuesday fundraiser in Indianapolis, IN, but it's still unconfirmed whether he will attend the Westfield rally afterwards. However, he is expected to attend both events.

I'm surprised we don't hear more( or any really) buzz around Huckabee. Well known, ran for president twice without having a scandal derail his campaign, and has full heartedly backed Trump in recent days. Plus he at least used to be rather likable with his aw shucks persona. One could do worse.

Huckabee's political career is probably over. Huckabee and Gingrich are to make money with books. Huckabee should probably be the chair of the RNC if they lose the presidency this November.
