Washington Post is reporting that 5 people are being considered for Vice President and he thinks picking a politician will be the best thing to unify the party and the nominee should be 3-4 days away. But who knows.

Trump says he'll decide in the next 3 or 4 days, which suggests there will be no Pence announcement tomorrow. He's down to 5 people including Flynn, but is leaning towards someone political and not military.

In another analysis WP usefully describes why the Trump VP pick seems to change hourly:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/07/11/why-donald-trumps-near-certain-vice-presidential-pick-changes-every-day/

Bottom line: Until the final minute, nobody except Trump will have a clue as to who the VP pick is.  Nevertheless, let me repeat my prediction:

Well, it's really difficult. There is no candidate without flaws. The best choice would be Kasich, but TRUMP should not beg on knees for Johnny to join the ticket.

Whoever says the name Trump the most times at the convention will get the VP slot.

Or perhaps whoever comes up with a good bumper sticker first Smiley :

If Trump did that and Kasich accepted, I would lose a lot of respect for Kasich, but I would at least gain some respect for Trump's leadership abilities.

So not until after the convention? That's certainly a change. (Based off Trump's problem with meeting his own deadlines.)

I honestly think that Trump is going to do the thing from Simpsons and just pick a folder at random and see who's picture is in it

And we still don't know who the speakers will be.

So to translate from  trumpspeak to English, he'll probably announce a VP by then end of August.

Very interesting that on the day Clinton sends an email teasing her choice, titled "~the big announcement~" (which sounds to me like it's been made), Kaine says he doesn't expect to be VP.

Bloomberg is reporting that Gingrich is being considered for a "top national security position" in a Trump government, which would mean not being VP.

Other reporting indicates that Pence will introduce Trump at the Indiana rally:

http://www.wthr.com/story/32416165/pence-ill-campaign-for-trump-anytime-anywhere

While I have no reason to doubt the reporting that says Pence is the frontrunner, it sounds like, most likely, Trump won't be ready to announce the pick as early as tomorrow.  I suspect he's just testing out Pence on the trail, and will then announce his decision in a couple of days.

I wonder what the betting markets will do if there's no announcement tomorrow.  Many seem convinced that he's going to announce Pence as his running mate there.

Sounds like a decision may have been made, and they're waiting for the best time to announce. Clinton did spend all day on Saturday at her DC home with members of her vetting team. With Clinton campaigning with Kaine on Thursday, they may have let him know ahead of time.

I recall Biden saying something like "it's not me" right before he was announced as VP.

"I don't expect it to be me" is just the standard boilerplate non-denial that they all give.  I have no reason to believe that Kaine knows anything about whether he's going to be picked.

Also, "Please sign up for text message updates so we can tell you who the VP is" is the exact same scam that the Obama people pulled in '08.  It's just a way to convince people to join their mailing list.

For sure. The media will have revealed the pick hours before the text message is sent.

But you said in your earlier post "sounds like a decision may have been made".  I don't see why that's the case.  Like I said, the text message thing is a trick they would announce around now even if the decision won't be made for more than a week.

Not that this probably means anything, but I was watching Hannity earlier and he's pulling hard for Gingrich. Seemed pretty dismissive of Pence as well, as did the rest of the panel. He's probably Trump's biggest backer at FOX so that might factor into who he decides to go with if he's listening to his friendly media.
