I am not entirely sold on this but, FWIW, from a number of news sources tonight:

"...Trump, who is slated to be nominated for president at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland next week, plans to announce his choice later this week. His allies say he favors a trio of elected leaders: Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former House speaker Newt Gingrich, Georgia..."

However, if true, I think we can safely take Christie out, so it would be between Gingrich and Pence.

In the same way that they released that list of speakers last week? I'm skeptical.

Very interesting that on the day Clinton sends an email teasing her choice, titled "~the big announcement~" (which sounds to me like it's been made), Kaine says he doesn't expect to be VP.

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/287294-kaine-i-kind-of-feel-like-im-going-to-stay-in-the-senate

Reeeeeeaaaaaaaalllllllyyyyyyyyy??? Hmm...

Here's the email:

Sounds like a decision may have been made, and they're waiting for the best time to announce. Clinton did spend all day on Saturday at her DC home with members of her vetting team. With Clinton campaigning with Kaine on Thursday, they may have let him know ahead of time.

I edited your quote so I wouldn't forget to edit it when you edit your post, but in the sentence "add your name and number below", your name is listed. Tongue

Damn it Jess, we're not even on a first name basis.

Gingrich's 2012 presidential campaign is still millions of dollars in debt btw:

Remember when Gingrich got his presidential campaign to pay for him to go on a trip to Hawaii with his wife?:

IF the convention can tolerate Flynn or McCrystal, it could turn out really well. A republican (Trump) and a Democrat (Flynn or McCrystal) seeking to work together to fix the country could really seem appealing to the average swing voter. If I wasn't informed on Trump's political views that well, it would seem pretty appealing to me. (Of course, I'm informed, and I'm #NEVERTRUMP through and through.) Also, the military is much more popular than Trump, so picking someone from it might have the after effect of bumping up his favorability a few points, which would help. Ultimately I think fear of Hillary will keep up turnout among the republican base regardless of the VP Pick.

Well, maybe the whole speculation about the Trumpster’s VP is just nothing; or mainly a move by Trump to stay on the news. New names are put out each week or even on a daily basis. I wouldn’t be surprised if he came up with a total wildcard, someone not or just barely mentioned. Jan Brewer, Pete Ricketts, Matt Mead, John Thune, Scott Walker, Tim Scott, Kelly Ayotte or a little known congressman/congresswoman for example. Who knows? It’s Trump.

Minor nitpicking, but theres NO WAY he picks Pete Ricketts. I know he gave in and endorsed trump, but with a sister working for the Hillary campaign and a mom who set up a Super Pac in order to defeat trump most definitely rules him out.

Apparently, generals are being vetted for the Clinton campaign as well: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/13/us/politics/james-stavridis-hillary-clinton-vice-president.html

He was also the Supreme Allied Commander at NATO, which is nothing to sneeze at.

Indeed. It would certainly be an interesting pick, however unlikely.

I recently had the pleasure of talking to the extremely bright posters IceSpear and Xingkerui about their thoughts on Clinton's rumored VP short list.

If you can ignore the abominable quality of the audio, you can listen to the very incisive things that they had to say here:

Yeah. If any of those two events were isolated, it could've been nothing, but together I think they really point to Newt.
