Gingrich is interesting because it's possible he helps neutralize one of Clinton's big advantages, which is nostalgia for the success and stability of the '90s. Trump and Gingrich can just attribute the prosperity to the Republicans in Congress and argue that their ticket now has the winning recipe.

Problem is, it's Newt Gingrich. Tongue

If Bob Dole weren't so old, he wouldn't have been a bad pick.

Imagine Bob Dole being on three losing Presidential tickets twenty years apart (1976, 1996, 2016).

Nikki Haley for Trump's VP, really?! Lol she strikes me as one of the saner Southern Republicans, which is frightening in of itself. I can hear the media now shredding Trump to pieces with the question, "You're anti-immigration but yet you pick a non-white immigrant to be on the ticket with you?" I really doubt Haley would accept.

He could always go rogue and pick Kim Davis if he's wanting a Southern Republican female Smiley but I don't think he really hates gay people as strongly as others in the party do who would do back flips for that selection.

1. Nikki Haley is not an immigrant. She was born and raised in this country.
2. Donald Trump is not anti-immigration. He is anti-illegal immigration.

Here’s the video:

http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/on-the-record/index.html#/v/4889359173001

It does sound like he’s saying that Brewer and Fallin are both on the list, but it’s a bit ambiguous.  He’s praising them (especially Brewer), but I’m not sure if that counts as airtight confirmation that they’re on the list.  He definitely confirms that there are women on the list though.

He also said that the list was 5 or 6 or 7 names.

Bloomberg News says that “multiple people” familiar with the Trump campaign’s deliberations have told them Gingrich is on Trump’s short list:

So maybe Newsmax isn’t crazy after all?

Hmm so we probably have Christie, Fallin, Gingrich, Brewer, and 1-3 other unknowns.

A possible Trump/Gingrich ticket.

Imagine how completely outlandish this would've sounded in 2014. Even disregarding Trump, I thought we would never hear from Gingrich again after 2012.

Based on the Greta interview, it actually doesn't seem like he's going to pick Christie.  I'd say Fallin, Sessions, and Gingrich are the most likely choices at this point.

Many things can be said about Gingrich, but I can't help but to admire the ability he has when it comes to staging a comeback out of nowhere. The fact that he stands a chance of being the GOP VP nominee this year after everything he's been through (and everything he's said and done on the course of his career) defies conventional wisdom, and yet here we are.

Now that I think about it, it seems like Christie is the "or 6" person when Trump mentions 5 or 6 people on his shortlist (and maybe Kasich is the "or 7" person). From his interview on The O'Reilly Factor:

So will we not be getting an official VP announcement before the convention then?

If it is a Dole, it will probably be Liz Dole. She is 13 years younger, female, legislative experience, and from a critical state.

I think he's going to pick someone with the following attributes:

>Is a policy wonk
>Is not an old white man

IMO, he should go for a southern woman.  He needs someone to soften his rough edges to an extent.
Cong. Marsha Blackburn, of Tennessee?
