Hmmm Blackburn could be a good pick. It's a shame she's delusional though.

I think he's going to pick someone with the following attributes:

>Is a policy wonk
>Is not an old white man

IMO, he should go for a southern woman.  He needs someone to soften his rough edges to an extent.
Cong. Marsha Blackburn, of Tennessee?

He wouldn't be the greatest choice.

It's a she Wink

Congressman Blackburn would be offended by that.

Warren would be a good choice, but I stand by my belief that Franken would be better.

I would probably be ecstatic with either. Anyone else is going to probably just be "ok".

While I have advocated Elizabeth Warren as Hillary's running-mate, I admit I wasn't sure whether she wanted the role, or whether Hillary would be comfortable with her.

This quote goes a long way in allaying my fears:

My view is that, to win, Trump needs to choose an "attack dog", someone who has a similar temperament, will back up Trump, and has similarly styled rhetoric.  That would back up his status as an outsider.  If he picks a generic politician, it just won't work and might end up being rather awkward.  Trump needs somebody that is willing to get up on stage and scream with him.  I don't know if he will do that.

I really don't get why Gingrich is on the list.  It's not like he comes from a swing state or has any characteristics other than being conservative that Trump needs.

1.  Gingrich is canny and resourceful, he's a clever and original fighter, just like Trump.
2.  Gingrich has a certain gravitas and pedigree that Trump needs.
3.  Gingrich actually seems to want the job, so he won't disagree with Trump or be a dead weight, like say Kasich.

Yeah, Gingrich does have some undeniable positives compared to the other names being floated.  That said, in a normal election cycle, one would say that he also has multiple disqualifiers that should remove him from consideration.  But Trump doesn't play by the normal rules, so picking Gingrich absolutely seems like something he might do.

Xavier Becerra will be Speaker in 2020 thereafter and stay in House. Julian Castro who has been with Clintons and knowledgeable about email scandal is being vetted along with Kaine and Perez, who both Latinos are part of Obama Admin

If he served two terms as President and we've just failed to notice, then no, he's not eligible.

Gingrich is interesting because it's possible he helps neutralize one of Clinton's big advantages, which is nostalgia for the success and stability of the '90s. Trump and Gingrich can just attribute the prosperity to the Republicans in Congress and argue that their ticket now has the winning recipe.
Gingrich is pretty unpopular, though. While I'd consider supporting a Trump/Gingrich ticket, most centrists would be pretty opposed to it. Gingrich has a solid base in the Republican Party, so he definitely would be great for the keynote or vice presidential slot. I think Kasich would do better hailing back on the prosperity of the late nineties, separating the ticket from Bush's irresponsible spending, and reminding them of the prosperity of Ohio now.

I realize that the Trump team may not be full of A-list talent, but I would hope that their vetting would at least be able to uncover whether any of the short-listers have already served two terms as president.  That would be embarrassing if they screwed that one up.

I mean, he already endorsed Trump, and it wasn't even a "Ugh, okay" endorsement, either; he had been saying good things about Trump since before the primaries. He governed a conservative state as a conservative, and is really no moderate ideologically, just in tone.

I question whether he actually believes any of the positions he takes, but he takes them none the less and will endorse anyone if he thinks he can be propelled further into power. Same with his McCain endorsement in 2008.

The Hill says that the five candidates “getting the most buzz in Clintonworld” are Kaine, Brown, Warren, Perez, and Hickenlooper:

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/279879-hillary-clintons-top-five-vice-presidential-picks

But, as with many stories like this, the sourcing is rather vague.  What is “getting buzz in Clintonworld”?  Are the sources here actually people with inside knowledge of the VP search, or just people in the extended Clinton orbit, only loosely connected to the campaign?

In any case, the most interesting name there is Hickenlooper, who last year said that he wasn’t interested in the VP job, because he didn’t want to move to DC:
