Maybe she could find a current or former investment bank President who wouldn't mind slumming for a bit? (If it worked for Treasury, why not for VP?)

Is that a joke or a legitimate theory?

She didn't outright shoot it down when Chuck Todd asked her on Meet The Press, but she basically gave a politician's no if you know how to read between the lines.

Corker could very well be Trump's Biden, a Senator with foreign policy credentials.

Please not Corker, Donald. Pick Kasich! He's the most competent guy by far.

Kasich could deliver Ohio for Trump.
Gingrich could help uniting the party and bring in the conservative base.

Corker: is he considered a good pick by the conservatives? I doubt it.

I think the concern over the conservative base is overestimated. They won't vote for Hillary. And the few votes TRUMP loses with the very conservative voters, he compensates with indepedents and cross-over Democrats, including a large number of former Bernie supporters.

The VP choice can do little good but much harm to a Presidential nominee. Think of how badly the choice of Senator Thomas Eagleton went for George McGovern.

People pay much more attention to the Presidential nominee than to the VP nominee. Just think of the huge blunder that Mike Dukakis made when he picked Senator Lloyd Bentsen, a well-respected US Senator. The Presidential nominee was very much a Texan. Bentsen might have been enough to flip Texas if the state were close to the national average, but not as much as a Presidential nominee.

Strengthening support from the Party base? That is far from enough.

Dukakis picking Bentsen was anything but a blunder. In fact, it could be argued that Bentsen was more competent than Dukakis.

I think that Croker would be the second best pick that Trump could make after Kasich.  People vote less for a ticket because of the positions the VP brings but rather because of the negative baggage of that person.  Croker is a moderate who won't say anything stupid and he would bring foreign policy savvy to the ticket as well.  He won't help carry Tennessee as it doesn't need any help.  But he might push Georgia and NC to the GOP.

Kasich would probably be better as he would bring more experience and help carry Ohio.

Lloyd Bentsen has the softest hands that I've ever touched.  At least he did in the fall of '88.  I had dinner with him and Rob Lowe.  Long story.  Rob Lowe was definitely high on cocaine.

Never met Dukakis.

Hickenlooper says he would probably say yes if Clinton asked him to be her running mate:

In this video, WaPo’s Robert Costa says “Talking to Trump advisors, I think Corker’s certainly on the list for the VP slot”:

http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/videos/2016-05-23/sen-bob-corker-meets-with-donald-trump-amid-vp-speculation

He also says that the Trump people say they want someone who can be “seen as a heavyweight”, like a Dick Cheney type, which is why Bob Corker, who is of course the Senate Foreign Relations Committee chair, would be a contender.

In other news, Ben Carson has already flip-flopped on this a couple of times, but he says that he doesn’t want to be on the ticket:

Trump should really pick a woman an a minority one at that:

1. Susana Martinez - likely not interested
2. Nikki Haley - likely not interested

My most likely choice on who Trump will settle on: Fallin. Woman who is a two term governor and served a term in the house, she would bring the political background Trump said he is looking for and could help bridge the gap with some woman voters.

Complete Wild Card: Just throwing it out even though it will never happen, Condoleezza Rice.

I don't know if he could get away with picking Rice after so strongly condemning the Bush administration's foreign policy. But then again, consistent internal logic has never been one of Trump's biggest priorities or strongest qualities. Tongue

Mary Fallin served two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, from 2007 to 2011.

As someone on the far political left, I absolutely agree. From my perspective I don't think a more perfect candidate for the job exists.

There aren't many picks from Congress that Trump can choose that wouldn't compromise his "outsider" cred. Unless he chooses a random low profile Freedom Caucus member.
