Special election determines the replacement for a Senatorial vacation in Massachusetts. Plus even if Baker had absolute appointment power, he'd be tarred and feathered for playing politics by appointing a Republican.

Yeah, the Massachusetts State Legislature (with a veto proof majority) could just pass a law like other states have where the appointment has to be from the same party as the previous office holder.

I'm sure it's a farce, but evidently there are whispers of Richard Cordray for Clinton's VP. Probably the same people who brought up Tim Ryan--Democrats trying to get early name ID for the gubernatorial race in '18.

Thune says he “knows nothing” about whether he’s being considered for VP:

Meanwhile, “Several individuals close to Fallin” seem to be talking her up in the media, trying to sell her as a good VP choice:

I posted this already, but can be mentioned here as well:

This article about the potential VP picks on both sides is interesting. Says that Kaine and Corker are the most likely choices.

That's not even the amount of one of Hillary's speeches.

Allow to paraphrase any of jfern's screeds.

We get it, you don't care about Hillary's corruption and her negative 22 point favorable rating.

I think the negative rating is more about them than her and you need to figure out that corruption has a specific definition.

This of this way, now, Bernie will always be what could have been. Not the one who you would have rejected by the first week of February.

Mods pls drone jfern

Seems like this is legal in VA but the optics are really bad, and if you're explaining, you're losing. Maybe this is why he was not chosen in 2008. I think Warren's chances increased.

Christie is being vetted for VP, and has received the official paperwork for the vetting process.

Unless Trump is doing this purely as a gesture towards Christie, this implies that the VP search is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Was it not obvious that it was going to be Christie from the start?

I suspect Christie is a fallback in case he can't get his preferred choice.  That being said, according to GAME CHANGE: DOUBLE DOWN, Romney's vet of Christie unearthed some skeletons. His history as a wall St lobbyest, including working for Bernie Maddoff was a big concern.  And that was all before Bridgegate.

Doubt Trump cares about that, even with the RNC probably pushing him against it behind the scenes.

I mean it looked like that until Trump began treating Christie like nothing more than an intern.

If anything, that upped the chances of him picking Christie.

I think Trump wants his VP to be a whipping boy/yes man, and Christie seems to fit that description perfectly.

Kaine took a hit on the betting markets but his yes shares are still selling at the highest price. Might be a good time to buy Warren.

I don't see Christie being picked, but I do ultimately think if Trump is elected that Christie will certainly have a cabinet position of some sort.

From that story:

This story says that Pence has known that he’s been in the mix for at least the last several weeks:
