FWIW, leaks aren't always a bad thing if the leak is staged (which isn't much of a leak I guess). For example, Trump purposely allowed his RNC speech to get out before he took to the stage to keep the commentators from speculating if he would give an actual speech or just rant about Bobby Knight and Howard Stern for thirty minutes. It was designed to keep people interested before the press scared off the audience.

If Hillary had a particularly dynamic or interesting pick (Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker for example) we'd know by now. The fact that she's keeping such a tight lip on the subject is a sign that she'll need all the press she can get and that the pick will be boring (such as Kaine or Vilsack). I doubt it'll be announced today in light of the media largely focusing on Munich.

538 calculates percent boost people from various battlegrounds would give to Clinton.
http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/tim-kaine-probably-wouldnt-win-clinton-the-election/

Florida    +1.8
Ohio    +1.3
Pennsylvania    +1.1
North Carolina    +0.8
Virginia    +0.7
Michigan    +0.4
Iowa    +0.4
Colorado    +0.4
Minnesota    +0.4
Nevada    +0.3
Arizona    +0.3
Wisconsin    +0.3
Georgia    +0.3

So Kaine adds a 0.7% chance to win, Vilsack only 0.4%.

Wrong decision. This is making her look weak and indecisive, which is the LAST thing she needs to project if she wants to defeat the orange man.

It's just a strange trend to see US campaign announcements delayed over these attacks in Europe. They're increasing in frequency, too. At what point will campaigns draw the line over foreign events with less than 100 deaths? Any loss is terrible, of course. The shut down everything approach isn't making sense to me.

How is it either weak or indecisive? There's no indication she changed her mind, or was cowed out of announcing for fear of anything, she's just delaying out of respect for the dead.

I didn't mean that it was indecisive, I'm saying that this runs the risk of that. Should have clarified.

This isn't about paying respect. It's about playing the news cycle.

Also, it's kind of good because it means Trump gets no positive spin at all from his speech. Let today be all about Munich and the rest of the weekend can be all about Hillary.

So, it was only recently delayed.

Hillary is in Florida, today and tomorrow.

Elizabeth Warren is in Florida, today and tomorrow.

Tim Kaine was in Boston all day today.

And people think it will be Kaine??

FFS if you're waiting for coverage of a mass shooting to end in today's day and age, you'll still be waiting in a pine box. She's already 50 minutes late taking the stage.

Wouldn't the media attention given to the shooting just cause Trump to double-down on his speech and go "See! Now ISIS is shooting German children having lunch!" That's what I'm worried of at least

Hillary's decision to wait to announce her pick 'til tomorrow. Obviously the attack is not good. It's horrible—and that goes without saying.

Hope this isn't true.  Seems like a cop out compromise.  She should either wait until tomorrow or do it now.

Announcing on Friday night is as close to take-out-the-trash as possible.  Is she super-embarrassed by the pick, or what?

She's got about an hour to announce it before she definitely needs to put it off until tomorrow.
