My opinion of Huntsman will go down to the sh**tters if he dares do such a thing.

I mean, he already endorsed Trump, and it wasn't even a "Ugh, okay" endorsement, either; he had been saying good things about Trump since before the primaries. He governed a conservative state as a conservative, and is really no moderate ideologically, just in tone.

I question whether he actually believes any of the positions he takes, but he takes them none the less and will endorse anyone if he thinks he can be propelled further into power. Same with his McCain endorsement in 2008.

USA Today reports that Clinton is looking for a younger, progressive running mate according to people close to the campaign, floating the following names: Warren, Kaine, Becerra, Brown, Murphy and Perez.

Who knew that being in your late 50s and 60s is considered young?

Him and Garcetti being on the list actually make me think it's legitimate and farther along in the process.

Hillary should really go with Al Franken. Checks all the boxes.

I think all the tea leaves are ruling out Gingrich.

Unless Trump is playing some sort of 3 dimensional chess and Pence is just a smokescreen for a more out of the box pick.

I am way more dismayed that Vilsack is under consideration. Literally anybody else is better than him.

I've been absolutely clear though that Franken is the best possible pick.

See, the thing is with Hickenlooper is that he wouldn't be vetted just for the sake of flattery. HRC would only be considering him if he was on her shortlist. Definitely a dark horse to watch out for.

If it were Bernie, and it likely won't be, can you imagine the press that it would get? She would probably get a solid bounce, on top of the bounce from the convention.

Warren can also use the former Republican angle too. "I was a Republican, the party left me" etc.
That works for Charlie Crist and Lincoln Chafee, not so much for someone whose current political views are to the left of the Democratic Party, let alone the Republican Party.

The difference is that those men have no principles. They are carpet baggers.

I don't think you can say that about Chafee.

Seems like spin; famous last words but hasn't Kaine been the VEEP choice since Mark Warner messed up his Senate campaign?

I don't think that's why Warner is out of contention, though. He's just a name from the past.

Is Clinton trying to burry the announcement by doing it on a Friday or Saturday.

Also, it's unlikely, but I would adore Crist being VP. A genuine dark horse.

It's all a ploy! The real pick is Checkpoint Charlie Crist! /s

But yeah, meh. Kaine is neither here nor there, but he's better than Vilsack.

As we're awaiting this, can someone remind me why Kaine is the #1 frontrunner and nobody cares about Warner, who has (I think) all his positives and is less boring?

He blew it in 2014. Ran a bad campaign, and almost lost.

I don't really think that has much to do with it. He's still in office, after all. I think it's more about him being a name from the past.

I mean, when else could she have announced it, what with the conventions being so early this year?

If one were to find themself announcing their VP choice on a Friday night at least after 6:30, on the night after a terrorist attack, wouldn't that —uhh— cause one to pause and consider maybe they didn't make the best choice?

Yes, this rollout has been awful!!

They only decent options HRC had was to announce a little early or a little late. The Conventions being too early this year play a role in that.
