Trump/Gingrich would be a very entertaining ticket, as would Trump/Christie.

One way to find out if Trump is as incompetent as some say he is, is if he picks Mary Fallin or Jeff Sessions. Fallin has run the state into the ground and Sessions is a total mushmouth.

All that being said, I think Scott Brown is probably the best potential choice among those who would realistically do it.

A thought occured to me the other day. If a majority of the delegates are Cruz delegates, even if pledged to Trump, would they really vote to nominate a pro-choice Vice President?

On that thought, what's to stop a Cruz-majority delegation from choosing Cruz for VP?

 I would laugh at a Trump/Huntsman ticket. What a worthless ticket.

That would be a dream ticket! Purple heart

He'll need Huntsman to win Battleground Utah.

I know, right?

God, that meme just won't die, will it?

Not until Trump actually leads in a Utah poll.

Despite Carson's claims to the contrary, Trump says he definitely won't pick a Democrat as his running mate:

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/05/trump-no-democrat-vice-president-222885

The question is, does this actually rule out Webb?

Third-hand word from the WHCD is that Castro and Brown are off of Clinton's shortlist.

RIP OC.

Trump taps Christie as transition chairman if elected President.
http://www.politico.com/story/2016/05/trump-chris-christie-transition-222962

What does this mean for the VP search? Is Christie out?

It seems less likely now.

Politico's headline is "Joni Ernst shuts out Trump vp talk" but it reads more like a standard non-denial denial.

That means we can expect a trump vp selection around when?

Early July.

Gingrich
Rick Scott
Kasich?

On CNN just now, confirmed that the list is 5-6 people, Christie is on it, Rubio and Pence are not.

They've seen the list, mention Christie, and then just don't say who else is on it? What lousy journalism...

If its Clinton/Warren v. trump/Christie, I am going to go out and buy a case of champagne. Most of the case will be for the Cubs WS win, but a good amount will be the Blue (Atlas Red) landslide.

They haven't seen the list, they were told by Trump camp specifically about him in that he wasn't removed from it like some had been thinking.

Did Jim Webb make it?

They don't know who's on it, just that they are not.

If he picks Gingrich, between the two of them they'll have 4 divorces. Not sure how that looks to certain traditionally Republican groups.

Hmm so we probably have Christie, Fallin, Gingrich, Brewer, and 1-3 other unknowns.

Now that I think about it, it seems like Christie is the "or 6" person when Trump mentions 5 or 6 people on his shortlist (and maybe Kasich is the "or 7" person). From his interview on The O'Reilly Factor:

So will we not be getting an official VP announcement before the convention then?

Hmmm Blackburn could be a good pick. It's a shame she's delusional though.

This is a pretty remarkable quote from that story:

Really?  Every single potential running mate on your list has "major problems"?  I'm not saying that's wrong, but it's not usually something that you'd expect someone in the campaign to publicly admit. Tongue

It's a bit of a Trump-22. The best VP picks for him are the ones that would say no to being VP.

Trump just said on CNN that he's actually likely to consider a female or minority VP.

Trump's VP list is now the size of his hands (very small).

So Trump's probably picking a politician, and of those 4-5 the two competitors are probably Christie and Kasich. The other 2-3 politicians definitely includes Sessions, and I'm guessing also Corker and a woman (probably Fallin). So that realistically in my mind narrows the list down to Sessions, Corker, Fallin, and Christie, with the most likely being Sessions.

Clinton concerned about picking Senators from Republican Gov states, so probably no Booker or Brown.

Christie is being vetted for VP, and has received the official paperwork for the vetting process.
