If Trump names his vice presidential running mate next week, then Christie is probably out of the running. He's on vacation in Italy. It might be Gingrich or Corker. Christie will probably be attorney general or Chief of Staff if Trump wins.

That's a pretty safe bet, though knowing Trump, I doubt it's Corker.

CNN says Hillary's choice down to Kaine and Warren.

Wonderful news!  Two choices I can get behind!

Sad that my boy Al is probably out once and for all, but SOOOO glad that Castro is out. I will be happy with either of these choices.

Dunno if he's out, this is all just speculation so far. CNN is making an educated guess.

I'm on the Franken bandwagon. No person better suited to handle the peculiarities of this election cycle.

Kaine may be too far right. Choosing him would big a giant sign that Clinton intends to govern as even more of a "liberal Republican" candidate than Obama.

 I haven't had the time to go and crunch numbers, but with a Kaine pick, Clinton would be betting that the number of "moderate"  votes she gets will outweigh the loss of actual leftists who vote Green, Lib, or just stay home. (The "moderate" votes will count for more if she's actually taking them away from Trump, instead of grabbing folks who would otherwise stay home,  of course.)

This election is really, really turing into a race to see which pile of elephant turds is the stinkiest. Guess I need to look for more jobs in Canada.

Clinton promises that there will be no leaks of her VP choice before she sends out the notification texts:

Freedom campaign! VP leaks betray supporters and take away the fundamental appeal of the announcement event. Leaking the VP pick makes one unqualified to work on a presidential campaign.

The only way to truly ensure that is to hide and/or obfuscate schedules to prevent any possibility of that.

I'm actually surprised Jeff Merkley didn't make the shortlist for VP. It would be a great way to satisfy the left, without the potential pitfalls of the other options (age, gender, and Senate seat, for Sanders/Warren/Brown respectively.)

To be honest, Massachusetts Democrats will just nominate Martha Coakley and lose for the fiftieth time.

And? MA Republicans like Scott Brown and Charlie Baker only come around once in a while, and I think it's more likely the MA Dems nominate a younger candidate like Moulton or Kennedy.
