Castro is the ultimate empty suit and Booker is actually in bed with Wall Street.

HUGE f'ing mistake to pick either of them.

Becerra just said on CNN he hasn't been asked to submit anything to be vetted yet.

And he won't be if his lips are that loose.

Put me on team Warren after seeing her latest speech. She is exactly what Hillary needs.

That choice would make this Sanders supporter very happy!

I've always loved Warren, but I think her place is the Senate and I think she and Hillary knows it.

I don't think a swing-state is necessary. What matters is someone who Clinton can work with, ideally someone she can get along with, and someone who can tap into and soothe the irritated Sandernistas.

Rick Scott's denial of interest went as far as saying that he won't be vetted:

Lol, like Scott would get through a proper vetting.

Elizabeth Warren will be the first female Vice President this November. She is CLEARLY interested and her attacks against Donald Trump are very convincing. During this last interview, she is really talking Hillary up. She wouldn't be doing this if she didn't want the job. The Democrats will want to make a splash. People who aren't voting for Hillary because she's a woman are not going to change their minds if she picks a man as her VP. And the Democrats would be able to take back the Massachusetts senate seat which is really important right now. Clinton/Warren 2016

I imagine there are probably plenty on the fence who might otherwise vote Clinton at the last minute, but if she picks Warren would see her as playing identity politics and secure those votes for Trump. I personally think she has more to lose by picking Warren, given that she won't even pick up the Sanders crowd since Warren was already demonized after Massachusetts.

Only the feral Bernie or Bust types, who are far fewer in number than Trumpites here would like to believe. They'll return to their basements, stalking the hot girl across the street who they also hate and end up not voting, voting for Stein or... who the hell knows.

Does a VP nominee have to consent to be added to the ticket? Could Kasicj just be jammed on despite protesting?

Yes, they have to accept the nomination.

I like Warren, but she should stay in the senate. Castro or Booker would make a better Vice President. Kaine and Franken would also be solid picks. I also wouldn’t mind to keep Uncle Joe on the second spot, though that’s no realistic scenario.

I know I say this ad nauseum ... Booker and Castro (one is in actually in the pockets of Wall St and other is a nice guy with an interesting story but no real accomplishments) would be complete disasters. Kaine would be OK? But fundamentally nothing. Franken's the only one in that list who I think can do the job required.

My list for Clinton, in no order.
- Becerra
- Franken
- Warren (although I think the negatives very slightly outweigh the positives)
- Klobuchar

I guess Murphy would like his stock to rise.

I grew up in CT.

I even volunteered for Murphy in 2012.

He will not bring me in line for the fall. I'm just one Bernie supporter, but the thought of him being a bridge to us is pretty laughable.

Frankly, sucking up to the Bernie supporters should be a minor concern for Clinton when it comes to the VP slot. Experience, capacity to do the job and the other job, filling gaps with experience etc and fundamentally someone the nominee can work with are what matters most. Those are the pairings that work best, not superficial theatrics.

We get it, you don't care about Hillary's corruption and her negative 22 point favorable rating.

I think the negative rating is more about them than her and you need to figure out that corruption has a specific definition.

This of this way, now, Bernie will always be what could have been. Not the one who you would have rejected by the first week of February.

If that's true, it just goes to show that Hillary doesn't care about the democrats' chance of having a senate majority in the short term or the long term.  Both of these seats would be at risk of falling into Republican hands, either through governor appointment with Warren or through a low turnout contentious election in 2018 in Virginia.

There actually is a way around that for Warren, which is for Warren to declare her intentions to resign a certain day or later to force Brown to not appoint anyone but for there to be a special election on the general election day.

The legislature could also pass a law that requires the governor to appoint a Senator of the same party.

That seems like a highly dubious legal proposition.

It's fascinating in comparison to Australia. When there is a Senate vacancy, the state premier puts forward a replacement and then that's voted on by the state parliament and recommended to the Governor who FORMALLY appoints the replacement.

IF, say, when Joe Bullock quit the Senate (thanks BE, by the way), the WA Government put forward a Liberal, all hell would have broken loose. The Federal ALP announced who the replacement would be, the WA Liberal Government respected that choice and it was smooth as silk.

Hillary should pick Bernie sanders. IF I was Hillary I'd be begging for him to come on the ticket.

This would go along ways to showing the base that I care.

Except the 'base' actually voted for Hillary.

Hickenlooper would be a poor choice. I'm still sort of hoping for Warren, while predicting it will likely be Kaine.

Hickenlooper was on my list at the beginning, I don't think he'd be a bad choice by any means. But I think now, he's not the right option. Castro CANNOT HAPPEN.

Provide one legitimate non-identity politics reason why Booker is less qualified than Castro.

I don't support either being picked.

Booker is actually what the Sandernistas think Clinton is, and Castro is the ultimate empty suit.

Historically their is little significance where a running mate is announced.
Edwards was announced in Pennsylvania
Biden was announced in Illinois
Ryan was announced in Virginia
Not sure where Palin was announced but I am fairly certain it was not in Alaska. So I would not read to much in to news that suggests Clinton will reveal her pick in Florida. Anyways I am still thinking it will be Tim Kain.

On the USS Wisconsin, TBH.

Palin was announced in OH.

I'm actually surprised Jeff Merkley didn't make the shortlist for VP. It would be a great way to satisfy the left, without the potential pitfalls of the other options (age, gender, and Senate seat, for Sanders/Warren/Brown respectively.)

So am I, actually.

Clinton promises that there will be no leaks of her VP choice before she sends out the notification texts:

Wow, this is bizarre. It'll almost certainly be leaked.

I don't think it qualifies as bizarre, but it's odd language to make supporters feel special.
