See the way to do sock accounts like that, is to make an intro and then use them sparingly. Have the account pop up only every now and then, and only posting in an appropriate context. Then it remains fresh and funny (assuming it ever was to begin with, which this one wasn't in my opinion but...) The Professor is the perfect example of this. Or dallasfan's sock he used to imitate opebo and has repurposed for other posters. Mass posting what's effectively the same post 50 times in a day is a great way to kill the joke FAST. I used to post at a forum which allowed socks, but ones like that got banned. The rule was basically if the sock posted more than say, twice a week, it was too much.

Remember when J. J. first said "jFRAUD" and some people actually thought it was possibly slightly amusing or clever? And then he posted it literally more than 200 times and everyone wanted to strangle him every time he posted it? Well most of you probably don't, but it's also a perfect example.

I find the sensationalism on here amusing...so apparently either This Atlas or Other Atlas is a CANCER filled with VERMIN! Tongue

I totally get the criticisms of both places, and have echoed them from time to time, but neither are a tenth of the dreadful, malevolent, blood-curdling hellhole of horrific proportions sent by Lucifer himself to turn our youth into eye-devouring zombies some of the strongest critics think they are.

Voted IRC, although AAD in practice is a lot better than it looks on paper.

The exact opposite of communism.

My opinions of the IRC, or at least the specific channel in question are pretty well known. I drop by occassionally, typically when a big electon happens but other than that I have typically found the place dreadful.

AAD is not too bad. The Update never interest me and what became the most alluring attractions were actually the Trump threads, which I found to be rather eye opening in a lot of ways.

This site has a lot to offer though. The maps, certain boards at the bottom of the site (Tongue) and many other assets.

They all have something to offer, and none of them are as bad as the critics make them out to be, save for me when I am bashing the IRC. Tongue That doesn't count. Wink

Given the AAD was largely established for a purpose of keeping the pathetic spectacle known as "the update" running, I'm happy to stay away.
Hey man, only 1 in 5 posts are about the update, you should give it a chance!  <snicker>

I doubt I'd fit there. I'm barely accepted on this forum.

You spammed here with Russ Powers nonsense. Don't try to pretend you were completely above Update and can look down on anyone who followed it.

I don't. But at least I haven't continued to obsess about the whole update thing.

And no one is really obsessing over Update now except Bushie himself.

People really misunderstand what Update currently is...

I don't follow it except to reward Bushie with a like now and then, but I think it's just him seeking advice from Duke with straha and HD making their comments, and he probably has them on ignore.

FWIW, I enjoy AAD and I never gave a damn about the Update or understood people's obsession with it. In fact, AAD has a whole board dedicated to it, and i don't recall even once opening it. So it's pretty easy to ignore.

You easily have dozens of posts telling us what you think  happened in the Update threads here and your feelings about those who posted in the threads.  How else would you know if you didn't click on it?

no, I have 3, tops, posts in an "update" thread.  It didn't take long to see what was going on there, even with a bit of benefit of doubt.  Some people loved a living stereotype, and other people, <ahem> tagged along to fit in with the cool kids.  It's ok, we've all done it...most of us just out grew it in High School.

In fact, AAD has a whole broad dedicated to it.

Oh really?
