The second is far dumber.  I'd rather to pump my own damn gas and save the money.  As far as alcohol goes, that's never been an issue where I've lived.

New Jersey has the cheapest gas in the country. You aren't saving any money.

Oh, I prefer pumping gas over having to ask some stranger to do it. I've never driven in NJ, and my only experience there was filling up trucks on-site for a place with its own supply. In PA, I have to do it for family and friends who have no clue how. But that used to be me.

I also believe I've heard that labour costs have to be spread out nationally rather than at the stations with the labour, but I'm not positive on how that is regulared.
