Terri Bonoff has been waiting for this opportunity to run for Congress for years now and she could actually put MN-03 in play. It's only an R+2 district in a presidential election year.

Paulsen is a fairly good FF.

I'll just ask the cocky duo above me - when is the last time Erik Paulsen faced a real challenge?

Exactly. He hasn't even been seriously/semi-seriously challenged since he first got elected. He'll have to face a GOP Presidential nominee who is deeply unpopular in Minnesota.

Yes, if the Independence Party runs a candidate, then Paulsen is safe.

Yes, because his opponent would win 90% of the Independence vote(winning 49-48) and Paulsen would not win the remaining one percent. Democrats are just as delusional as Republicans when they believe third parties are "stealing" elections.

I really want to laugh at the idea that Bonoff is some sort of special candidate. Why would she be such a great candidate here?

I didn't say he would've lost. But it would've been much closer.

In the 2008 Senate race, Coleman only dropped 2% from McCain's vote share. Franken dropped 12% from Obama's vote share. It's quite clear which party they steal more from.

Moderate, well-known, and a good fundraiser. What reason do you have to laugh at her candidacy?

She has name-recognition, a record as a state senator, and she could benefit from higher turnout whether or not Donald Trump is the nominee.

Wave insurance. If Trump is a disaster, seats like this fall, regardless of Paulsen's quality.
