So... I have 14 years to write a musical that will save Jackson from the axe. Who wants to help me write it?

I've been in several musicals. I'm not a fan of Jackson personally, but I'm willing to help.

I guess to some people the guy who squashed the Klan is worse than the guy responsible for the Trail of Tears.

Wolf Blitzer unironically said that the decision announced today means that Hamilton "dodged a bullet."

Word is that Jackson could still appear somewhere on the $20.

Hamilton was indefinitely horrible and worse than Jackson, and he wasn't even president, Jackson had much a larger impact then Hamilton, with Jacksonian Democracy and all that.

Time for another edition of... Breitbart Speaks!

"The only woman who deserves it to be on the $20 bill is Sasha Grey."

"I am surprised that Oblowme didn't put his ugly mug on the $20."

"[Obama] will be on the $1 million bill when the dollar crashes, and a million will be worth about 43 cents in today's money."

"Great gonna go to the ATM and it is going to spit out a stack of negroes."

"Andrew Jackson is one of America's greatest heroes. I refuse to use their communist inspired currency."

Also, a lot more racist filth that I left out, and about 20 different people joking about Obama being on the three dollar bill.

Really, I think Jackson should stay, though we could have different versions with different people on them.

I had to Google that... and I'm both horrified and confused.

Really, a guy who wanted a strong central government is worse than a war criminal and slave-owner that brought about the Trail of Tears?

That was a terrible misogynistic joke, but it did make me laugh. Sasha Grey was the porn star who caused the outrage when she read a book to a kindergarten class right?

He wanted a strong central government to protect the elite of society. He opposed the french revolution, and opposed ideas given from it, such as liberty and equality. He opposed expanding suffrage, opposed Catholics having place in America, and essential wanted another dictatorial regime in America, controlled by the elite. Alexander Hamilton was no abolitionist either, and was fine with slavery under the system. I'm sure he opposed democracy, and thought that normal people participating in politics, would be disastrous. The trail of tears is horrible, but it does not negate what Jackson did.

1. I'm fine with removing Jackson. I'm glad Hamilton "dodged the bullet."

2. Not crazy about the Tubman pick. I don't want to be sexist, but this pick seems to be a bit forced.

Apparently we're doing it on the other currency too.

A bit much, don't you think?

I like the concept of double sided bills (I rather see MLK on the back of the $5 than the Lincoln Memorial), and I think Marian Anderson, Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, and others are good choices. I don't want to see Eleanor Roosevelt on any bills but it is what it is.

This is true in the sense that there wasn't anything good to negate

Yes, this is the best choice.

Jackson hated money and the federal banking system, being on the $20 was probably a best-served-cold, banks have the last word insult to him, so it's good to take him off it. And his actions with the Trail of Tears aren't exactly popular.

Jackson's anti-bankism is exaggerated. His fight over the Bank of the United States was initially about how it was organized and operated rather than getting rid of it. In the resulting Bank War he moved to a more absolute anti-bank position because he became convinced that the reforms he wanted - which were rather drastic reforms - could not be accomplished, leaving him with a choice of the Bank as it was or no Bank at all.

He also favored not having denominations competing with specie, so he wanted the smallest denomination of paper money to be a $20 bill. (At the time, the highest valued U.S. coin was the eagle, a $10 gold coin.) So I always thout that if Jackson was on our money, the $20 is the denomination he belonged on.
