No, he's trying to be the real outsider. Which is ironic, because he's basically the consummate insider. The dude worked for Dubya in '00 in the hopes of being White House Counsel for God's sake.

I can't remember if he attacked Trump on it but Cruz said he was against torture while Donald said he was for it.

I suppose Cruz criticizing Trump for saying women have to be punished for having abortions could be seen as being more "tolerant", but more accurately it's a criticism of him for not even bothering to learn the basic talking points of the anti-abortion movement (no we punish "greedy doctors" or whatever).
