April 16th, 2012:

Dick Cheney announces White House bid.

Tim Pawlenty announcing his candidacy in Des Moines, Iowa.

"Hello Iowa! Let me begin by saying... Well asking you all a question. Are you better off then you were four years ago? The answer should be.... no. That is unfortunate. We must retake the White House in November... And since I'm the only one who I believe can do that, I am announcing my candidacy for President of the United States. I never wished to do this, but I am experienced enough. I have governing and legislative experience, I know how to solve the problems of today. I can actually win. Thank you, and God bless!"

No offense, but he would be 70 years old at the time.

It's not unprecedented Reagan was 69 when he won, 73 at his re-election. Other than dementia, he had no age problems in office.

The Heartless Man: A Biography and Overview of the 2010s

"Dick Cheney ran in 2012, unexpectedly. This caused a rift in the race, though he was behind at first, he was a kingmaker... Iowa came, the results shocked the nation and sent shivers down the GOP Establishment's backs." -Senator Rand Paul, 1/2/2025.

CNN: January 3rd, 2012- Iowa Caucus

Iowa Republican Caucus Results (95.6% in)Sad

Newt Gingrich: 25.6%
Mitt Romney: 23.4%
Mitch Daniels: 16.1%
Ron Paul: 14.9%
Dick Cheney: 12.6%
Michele Bachmann: 3.9%
Tim Pawlenty: 3.4%
Jim Gilmore: 0.5%

The race had been completely changed. The very same night, Tim Pawlenty and Michele Bachmann both dropped out. They were sad, pitiful speeches. Dick Cheney was on the edge, he was now campaigning door to door in small New Hampshire towns, holding town halls. is goal was to visit 90% of the small towns throughout the whole campaign. Newt Gingrich was the new frontrunner, though.

____

Newt Gingrich delivers his victory speech in Des Moines, Iowa.

"...Thank you Iowa! Let's cruise to the nomination and KNOCK OBAMA OUT IN NOVEMBER!!!..."

CNN: JANUARY 11TH, 2012:

New Hampshire Republican Primary Results (79% in)Sad

Dick Cheney: 34.5%
Mitt Romney: 29.1%
Ron Paul: 20.4%
Mitch Daniels: 9.6%
Newt Gingrich: 4.6%
Jim Gilmore: 2.1%

In the end, Dick Cheney's town hall, get to know every voter type strategy worked. A last minute endorsement by Senator John McCain skyrocketed Cheney in the polls, placing Romney into an unexpected second. Later that night, Mitch Daniels dropped out. The following morning Gilmore dropped out and endorsed Cheney. It seemed as the race was coming down to South Carolina that this whole race would be Cheney vs Gingrich.

CNN: JANUARY 21ST, 2012:

South Carolina Republican Primary Results (89.4% in)Sad

Dick Cheney: 37.4%
Newt Gingrich: 34.5%
Mitt Romney: 20.4%
Ron Paul: 6.9%

South Carolina was a shocker. Gingrich had been up in almost every single poll, but Cheney campaigned like hell, repeating Bush 2000 tactics. This led him to a decisive victory. Dick Cheney's next target: Florida.

Dick Cheney's Victory Speech:

Dick Cheney delivers a victory speech from the U.S.S Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, SC.

"...Thank you South Carolina, let's cruise to the nomination! I'm gonna fight like hell in Florida, and fight like hell in the rest of these primaries, and then fight like hell to make America Great Again!..."

After South Carolina, Cheney became the prohibitive front runner. Florida would be the REAL test to see who would win the GOP Nomination. It was a Cheney-Gingrich-Romney race, anything could happen...

General Election Polls, January 25th, 2012:

Dick Cheney: 44%
Barack Obama: 43%

Newt Gingrich: 43%
Barack Obama: 44%

Mitt Romney: 48%

Cheney Veepstakes:

Chris Christie
Tim Pawlenty
