george bush/john anderson (R): 37%, 264EVs
ronald reagan/jesse helms (independent) 32%. 173 EVs
ted kennedy/fritz mondale (D): 31%. 101 EVs

even though bush would only come up 5 evs short in this scenario, would the house select him as president (remember it was heavily democrat at the time)

Nah, they'd give it to Kennedy, and our country would've been worse off then with Carter.

No way that Republicans get 69% of the vote.

when ted keneedy is the nominee, yes there is a way.

Anderson was center-left socially and center-right economically (here is a good article on his campaign). Bush was originally libertarian as well, but he flip-flopped to match Reagan's beliefs.

That's not true at all. He was originally a wishy washy moderate. He opposed supply-side economics, for one.

Who are you referring to here, Anderson or Bush senior?  In any case, of course both opposed supply side economics, as they were center-rightists, not extreme right wingers.

My opinion of Mr. Anderson has dropped significantly as I have learned that he is a leader in the World Federalist Association, an organization dedicated to lowering democracies to the level of savage dictatorships.  I do respect his work in supporting IRV, though.

Center-right is supply side. Extreme right is anarcho-capitalism.
