I'm not going to rule this out.  It seems ridiculous, but Trump has broken a LOT of molds to date.

Trump is the most unorthodox candidate in recent memory; he'll soon be the most unorthodox NOMINEE in my lifetime.  His issue positions, if adopted as the GOP platform, would constitute something of a realignment of the parties.  Trump may have a slew of surprises up his sleeve that would shake the seemingly rigid demographics.

Yeah all the Republicans need to make inroads in the black vote is a guy endorsed by David Duke, the KKK and various other white supremacists. Totally.

See, the problem here is that you can't just handwave ridiculous statements by saying "the rulebook has been turned on its head". There needs to be at least some basis in reality.

I already tested this out. Even if he wins 25% of the black vote, he'd still lose to the freiwal map. He'd need a lot of help from other portions of the vote.

15% sounds about right. The GOP was at 10% when Obama wasn't the nominee and I suspect black voters have moved slightly right. And Trump is probably more appealing than the typical white as sour cream Republican

Yeah I'm sure blacks have just been waiting for a white supremacist backed candidate to win them over.

Earlier in the campaign I thought he could get up to 15% but now I think he would at most get 8%-9%.  He definitely has a certain appeal to some blacks that the McCains and Romneys of the world don't, and there's no Obama this time around, but the things he's said to pander to the racist vote will come back to haunt him.  Like when in South Carolina he kicked a black protester out and said "Don't you miss the GOOD OLD DAYS when GUYS LIKE THAT would be carried out on a stretcher?" That's not a dog whistle, that's a freaking dog siren.
