The second and third ones are the only ones I find desirable, and the second one is only desirable if Obamacare is replaced with some form of universal healthcare. Am I officially a RINO now? Tongue

But then I would be a DINO. Wink

Probably, but I'm guessing you'd have a lot less apostasies as a Democrat than as a Republican. It's hard enough being a pro-choice/pro-gay Republican these days, add being pro universal healthcare/against Obamacare repeal to that and you've gone full communist socialist Nazi Muslim. Tongue

You mainly identify as a Republican based off foreign policy, right?

Yeah, the idea that the current folks who make up the Democratic electorate would be any more welcoming to moderate Republicans than currents GOP conservatives are is just crazy.

I'd imagine if we did a survey of real or perceived moderate Democrats/Republicans in Congress and gauged their fear of a primary challenge, the results would be extremely different.

Yeah, foreign policy and a belief that third parties are futile are the main reason I have a blue avatar instead of a yellow one. As for Democrats  vs. Republicans, I still think my views on issues such as taxes, gun control, and affirmative action line up more with the right than the left, although I will admit that the more "big tent" nature of the Democratic Party would probably leave with more ideological wiggle room if I was politician than the Republican Party would.

Well, it's well known that Hilldawg is a centrist on foreign policy (or far right neocon warmonger if you asked certain people...) so perhaps give that some consideration in your vote this November.  Wink

Goldwater, don't become a Democrat. Remember Joe Lieberman and John McCain? One of the two was successfully primaried.

Out of curiousity, Goldwater, would you have supported a Howard Dean/Joe Lieberman ticket against Dubya in 2004?

Eh, probably not, especially without hindsight.

I think Classic Conservative is the only "Jesusy Cruz" type of person to not prioritize Roe v. Wade. The rest of us who didn't aren't exactly very "Jesusy". Tongue

And even those of us who are kind of Jesusy don't necessarily see what that has to do with abortion.

2. Establish a Flat Income Tax of 10%
3. Overturn of Roe v. Wade
4. Stricter Immigration Laws
5. Repeal of Dodd Frank
6. Welfare and Social Security Reform
7. Religious Liberty Laws
#KillTheDoctors
But not as important as Barack "The Terrible" Obama's healthcare.

Overturn Roe v Wade

Been fighting for that longer than my fight against the Clintons.

Maybe in 2006, but in 2016, my racial background makes me ineligible to be tolerated within the Democratic Party.

I could probably start weaponizing gender/sexuality to fit in, but my related skepticism toward unlimited Islamic immigration would push me right back out again.

Boiling it down solely to the Iraq War is overly simplistic. Did Reid, Kerry, Harkin, Cantwell, Biden, etc. face any primary challenge of note? Hillary had an anti-war primary challenger in 2006 that she crushed 84-16.  Lieberman lost for the same reason Charlie Crist lost: they kissed/hugged the president of the opposing party. Ideology is overrated, stuff like that stirs the partisans' emotions far more. Failed VP/presidential runs didn't help him very much either.

Icespear, get your Clinton supporting hands off Goldwater!!! You guys have stolen enough of our people this year as it is. Tongue

Voted the immigration one simply to make it number 2. Not necessarily opposed to a dream act per see, but I am certainly in favor of tougher immigration laws, enforcement and changes in the way legal immigration is administered. And immigration policy has long been more important than abortion in my book. It is also fairly clear that immigration has become the new litmus test right after abortion and possibly guns for determining a GOP nominee. The reason for this is similar to those that have made trade come roaring up as an issue and that is the changes in the GOP's base composition.

That said I am pro-life and would like to see Roe v Wade overturned.
