The ruling allowed the right of privacy in the bedroom, and legalized contraceptives. It has the support of 88% of Americans.

I don't think he's a serious extremist, just a little too friendly with the idea of government intervention to "preserve family ideals."

Santorum's the biggest extremist in the Senate (James Sensenbrenner probably holds that title in the House).

That is not true at all.

Yes, he is. However Tom Coburn is the biggest extremist.

Santorum is just as much of an extremist as I am. He is as far right wing as I am left wing.

That may be true, but Santorum is more vocal with his extremism.

If Santorum had his way, he's put a camera in everyone's bedroom and you'd be put in jail if you used birth control and/or banged your wife/girlfriend in anything other than the missionary position.

Yes, he's definitely said all this.

As per the last quote sited, that statement is untrue.

There are definitely many House members who are more extreme than Sensenbrenner.

Scary thought. That whole bill he wrote about going to jail if you don't report your neighbor's drug use scares the hell out of me.

Weird. 80% of Republicans in the foll favored this. Yet of those who have voted here, they oppose it 4-0. That's statistically significant even at the 99% confidence level. We can conclude that people who voted Republican in this poll are statistically significantly more conservative on this issue than Republicans as a whole. This is an indicator that perhaps Republicans on this forum are more conservative than Republicans as a whole.

One other poll that shows that Republican forumers seem to be more conservative is here:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=23116.0

While they should have roughly equal numbers of people, the most Republican group, the Enterprisers got 9 votes. The social Conservatives had 5, and the more liberal Pro-government conservatives had 1.

The liberals are by far the largest group, so that 13-2-6 Democratic split isn't as crazy as it seens at first.

I wouldn't say that Republicans on the forum are more extreme than Republicans as a whole - its just that the more extreme ones are more active and more likely to notice every poll.

I voted R/Yes of course.

Yes, absolutely.  I have no moral qualms whatsoever about women's access to contraception that I have with abortion, since the former (as I understand it) involves the prevention of a pregnancy before it happens, while the latter involves the ending of a pregnancy, thus killing an unborn child.

With this distinction, women have the right to enjoy sex for its own sake so long as it doesn't involve the killing of an unborn child.

Jfern,

Why isn't there No (D) voting option? I'm not saying I'd vote that way

D/Yes, but not as bad as Coburn or DeMint.
