A lot of good choices here. Wallace is my favorite American politician, perhaps second only to Andrew Jackson, but he'd lost so much of his swagger and physical ability after 1972 that I would have had a hard time supporting him. I'd give Carter and Bayh a look, but given the circumstances of the time, I'd go with Scoop.

Brother, I wasn't saying they were the same at all. Look at who is leading. George Wallace, a racist and Scoop Jackson, a Neconservative. I know and recognize that Neoconservatives were instrumental and vital to passing civil rights legislation. Just read my post again.
