Thought this was "Utah or Alabama" and I would have gone with Alabama. In this instance I have to go with Utah.

I'd take Utah over Alabama too, just because at least Utah has Salt Lake City.

Alabama has good barbeque though and probably better music then Utah.

Um, no.

There is actually a pretty good scene in Salt Lake City.

Utah over Albania, but Alabama over Utah

I feel like anywhere in the US would be better than Albania.

I'm guessing that having discovered Furnace Fest you'd feel differently today.

In 2016 Furnace Fest hadn't happened for 13 years and was mostly forgotten.

Utah would be the state I’d want to live in the least but I’d rather live there than Albania.

I remember many years ago the EU released a report that specified that Albania was responsible for the largest number of auto thefts in the EU despite not being a member. Instead of getting mad,  the Albanian government ran with it and released a new tourism slogan: "Come to Albania....your car is already here"

In terms of scenery, Albania is very underrated. Possibly even prettier than Utah, depending on whether you prefer the desert or Adriatic coast.

While I’d love to visit Albania, visiting and living in a place are not the same. Easy Utah vote.

Utah. The only way I'd choose Albania is if I'm selecting a colony site for a virgin (unpopulated) Earth.

Both have nice landscapes, Albania is very underrated.

But I'd probably live in Utah long-term.

Something about growing up in SE Michigan has me predisposed against Albania, such that I gloss over Peace Corps apps for there or Kosovo, while I'd gladly serve in any other Balkan country. I really liked Tirana, however.

That all said, the likely answer is Utah, and I'm not quite proud of that.

When one's corporeal being finds itself in a place like here:

then all else becomes rounding error. It's the most beautiful patch of earth on the planet.

I voted for Utah, obviously, but I just want to point out Albania looks like this:

Scenic beauty and development wasn't a deciding factor; "speaks English" and "is my homeland" was.

Probably Albania.

I think people underestimate Albania a bit here.

Utah though isn't too bad either, but i think Utah is only fine with decent income/job/security and would have issues with schools and so on.

Though for travel purposes (esp. with infinite money) i'd go for Utah, although Albania again is also an underrated travel destination.

But the question is living, and than I have to say Albania. It's also a far more realistic travel destination for me than Utah, which would literally cost me 4-5 times more, perhaps even more.
