Even his position on evolution was kind of understandable in context. The textbook the Scopes trial revolved around was simply vile.

A racist, xenophobic radical who tried to debase our money and destroy our economy.  HP doesn't even begin to describe him.

That being said, he was one of the best public speakers that our nation has ever had--a lovable loser, if you will.
