Let's say the Republicans use some parliamentary maneuvers to unbound delegates and they're able to deny him the nomination at the convention despite him clearly having the most delegates and possibly even a majority.

But no. Trump is f[inks]ing trash, so anything bad that happens to him is worth applauding. Same reason I have zero sympathy for the establishment hacks he's beating, and won't any sympathy for him in November when he loses hugely.

Yes, because I won't be able to see the beauty that is the landslide in November.

Also, he's finished in the top 2 in every state except DC, Minnesota, and Utah, all of which were caucuses. He has broad cross-regional support and will easily have the most votes.

Isn't it quite possible that he would be even more upset by the general election loss to Clinton that he would likely experience if he's nominated than he would be by being denied the nomination?  If he's denied the nomination, he gets to play the martyr.  If he loses the general election...what's his excuse?  Thus, I'm not really sure what there is to feel sorry about.  Stealing the nomination from him is doing him a favor.  Tongue

At this point the only way he loses it is if republicans completely screw him at the convention which wouldn't be right. The people have spoken in the primary and have clearly made it known they want Trump as our nominee. Numerous other people I would have chosen over him but the people decide.

it would be wrong to take it from trump if he is way ahead in delegates and the popular vote. Thats just the truth at this point.

I won't feel sorry for Trump, but I'll be upset at the breach of democracy.

I would feel sorry for his disenfranchised voters, but not Trump himself since he should have had this scenario covered.

I won't feel sorry for him but a part of me will feel sorry for his sheeple/supporters who somehow were naïve enough to believe that he would be nominated by the same party establishment that he's criticized and have done everything in their power to downplay his wins and try to stop him. It would be a big FU to the voters, but in the end, it doesn't matter whom they nominate because once the general election takes place, we will forget all about this primary and the chickens will come home to roost.

I would feel disappointed for the US citizens who voted for him.

There appears to be a large disconnect between Trump and the Republican establishment.

They cannot control him. They cannot fund him.

Voters love it.

If nothing else, his Presidency would bring a refreshing feeling to the White House.

At a $19.5 trillion debt level, Trump is best positioned to reduce that and renegotiate foreign trade deals with the USA.

No, wouldn't feel remotely sorry for him. Trump as nominee would destroy the Republican Party. He's run the most dishonest campaign of anyone, bar-none. I'd love to see him denied the nomination.

No way- he has hijacked my party with his not conservative rhetoric and positions.  I support any measure to deny him the nomination.

He has earned 37 percent of the Republican votes. So, no. The people have spoken in the primary and say they want a Trump alternative.

And because of that, I won't be sad if they screw Trump.

Of course not. CRUZ getting himself nominated would be hilariously seedy and make for excellent television.

The issue with this line of argument--which is very much technically correct--is that there's no such specific person as A Trump Alternative. All specific people who could be placed into that role have either garnered even less support than Trump or didn't run at all.

It's the same issue as with Generic Republican beating Obama in the polls in 2012.

Since we've had nationwide primaries, *every* nominee has gotten to 50 percent. Trump cannot.
