I don't think 37% is that far removed from the suburban norm. You see people drinking, but you don't see people not drinking, so you just don't think about it. I'm shocked every time I meet someone like that, and I'm in that group. 18% have never had alcohol in the US, and considering our demographics and the further threshold questioned by the poll, 37% seems right. We ought to keep working to get that a majority.

I'm sure at least half of the 27 users that voted "never" are either liars or troll votes.

Okay, it seems we have around 36% of liars. There isn't that much Mormons here.

Is there something wrong with living a very conservative lifestyle even if we're not Morman in your book?

Stop conflating my decision not to drink much alcohol with your regressive ideology.

I think some people in this thread are conflating different meanings of the word 'conservative'.

I suppose you could say that, but even so, the reason I don't drink much alcohol is because I don't like it (or its cultural associations), not because I'm "conservative" in any political or non-political sense of the word.

I am ultra personally conservative as well, and I have never tried alcohol and never plan to.

17 was the first time getting tipsy, 18 for actually drunk.  I don't think it's uncommon though to have never gotten drunk.  Most of my family has never even had alcohol, let alone gotten drunk.

Never. Only been noticeably buzzed maybe once because I was really hungry at the time.

Okay, that's you, but to say that there's no correlation between abstaining from alcohol and being in some sense 'conservative' is just futzing around with language.

Bra. I don't drink, do drugs, or have one night stands. It's not conservative, it's just not having an active social life.

I wouldn't be able to feel elitist and judge others for their life choices if I ever drank alcohol, so never.
You're also like fourteen, so...

I've never gotten drunk enuf to pass out and at most I may have gotten a mild buzz tho I've never noticed any difference in my behavior, nor have those with me. The most I've ever had in one night is four drinks at the rate of around a drink an hour. I drink to slake thirst, not get drunk.

First time getting drunk was during this school term. I did it to fall asleep when I had trouble doing so due to stress.

Passing out is not cool. During the New Year party 2005/2006 I've been mixing up all kinds of alcohol (beer, wine, vodka, champagne, something else I can't recell) plus smoking some Mary Jane. Next thing I remembered was me being led to the night bus and me talking to everybody in English.

Since then, I don't mix alcohol.

16. Smirnoff and Diet Coke in a red plastic cup, imbibed at a terrible high school house party.

I don't remember if I was 17 or 18, but it was that summer. I know the first time I was really drunk was shortly after 18. (Fortunately, my grandma was a staunch opponent of the 21-year drinking age.) My grandma used to make Long Island Iced Teas by the gallon and poured them in red solo cups and I had like seven or eight in one night shortly after my 18th birthday.
