Trump will pay off the 19.5 trillion dollar debt by removing military bases from the Middle East, Germany, South Korea and the Phillipines etc.

Some of these areas require much less military presence than is currently expended.

China, for example has never in it's 4,500 year history invaded a foreign land. They just quible over Tibet, Taiwan, Hong Kong etc which were probably theirs to begin with.

Diplomacy can save you trillions.

Trump wants to use the military as a last resort.

Hey, maybe they genuinely want infinite war, collapsing empire, and domestic misery.

For those of us who aren't America Last Democrats or Israel First Republicans, this was the best FP speech since Eisenhower's warning against the military-industrial complex.

Honestly, I thought it wasn't bad.  Trump is just a tad more Hawkish than I am, but this is as reasonable as he's ever sounded on the subject. Wasn't anywhere near a speech that will go down in history, but it was really better than most Trump spots.

It would have been a good speech if even half of the foreign policy myths that Trump perpetuates were actually true...or if Trump understood the strategic and diplomatic cost of turning our allies into clients and pulling out of NATO....or understood that saying the military needs to be bigger AND have a smaller global presence makes no sense whatsoever.

Did he repudiate his own repeated, calls for living space taking oil from Syria, Iran, and other nations? Or are viewers just expected to decide on their own which things Trump actually means? (Trick question, Trump doesn't actually mean anything he says, and Trump supporters are just supposed to raise their hands and support Trump, no questions asked.)
