Good Evening, and welcome to the Mideast Record-Courier's live coverage of the Northeast special election. In just a few hours, voters across the Northeast will head to the polls to fill vacancies in two offices: at the federal level, the Region's "Class A" Senate seat was vacated by the resignation of Senator Pikachu earlier this week, while the governorship is up for grabs as Governor Blair seeks election to replace Pikachu in the Senate.

While the Senate race is currently quiet - Governor (now Senator) Blair has not drawn an opponent in his quest to return to Nyman - the governor's race is a heated contest between three candidates: Acting Governor Kingpoleon, an Independent, faces Federalist Representative RGN and Labor Representative Somebody Who Exists in what is expected to be a tight contest. In a potentially pivotal turn of events, Mr. Kingpoleon received the endorsement of the man he hopes to succeed - former Governor and Senate candidate Blair - who crossed party lines to endorse Kingpoleon earlier today, along with both of Labor's At-Large Senators. Whether this will effect the outcome of the race will become evident in the next several days.

Note the map directly below this text. As results of the gubernatorial election begin to come in, we will color the states in the following manner: shades of blue for states won by Acting Governor Kingpoleon; shades of orange for Rep. RGN; and shades of red for Rep. SWE.

Thank-you and happy voting!

Harry S Truman,
Editor

FOR NE SENATE (31% Turnout)
Blair [LAB] 7 (100%)

FOR NE GOVERNOR (31% Turnout)
RGN [FED] 5 (62.5%)
Kingpoleon [IND] 3 (37.5%)
SWE [LAB] 0 (0.0%)

We are approximately nineteen hours into the first day of voting, and with a little less than a third of the vote in, former Governor Blair and Representative RGN are leading their respective races, though by widely different margins. In the Senate race, Blair is currently far ahead with 100% of valid preferences as of this hour (a single write-in vote was cast for former Speaker Poirot, who is yet to announce whether he will accept this tribute). Meanwhile, in the gubernatorial election, RGN is currently ahead with five votes to three for Acting Governor Kingpoleon, a significant but by no means insurmountable lead at this early hour.

On the electoral map, RGN is currently leading in four states: Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine; Kingpoleon is ahead in New York and Massachusetts.

TURNOUT - BY PARTY
LAB   3 (38%)
FED   3 (38%)
IND   2 (25%)

WHIS running for this office and Why?

To give you a basic rundown:

A while back, Pikachu resigned from his seat in the Senate, thus triggering a special election. Blair then chose to appoint himself to the Senate, triggering a special election for the gubernatorial office. Blair is running unopposed for the senate seat, but the governor's office has three candidates: former Lieutenant Governor and Assembly member RGN of the Federalists, Atlasian veteran SWE of the Laborites, and moderate independent Speaker Kingpoleon.

Wonderful news! I like them all, and I would not cry if either of them wins.

NOW, can I count on your vote if I decide to run for The presidency? If you recall, I was once the leader of Atlasia, and I presided over the Era of Good Feeling, where we did things that I won't speak of, and enjoyed all kinds of wild gay parties.

Yeah, there were some wild parties in that White House for sure. Tongue

It only got worse once old Cincy became Vice President in March 2014. It was practically every night. Wink

FOR NE SENATE (38% Turnout)
Blair [LAB] 8 (88.9%)

Others   1 (11.1%)

FOR NE GOVERNOR (38% Turnout)
RGN [FED] 6 (60.0%)
Kingpoleon [IND] 4 (40.0%)
SWE [LAB] 0 (0.0%)

Little has changed in the last twenty four hours, with only two new votes since our previous report. In the Senate race, former Speaker Poirot has announced that he will accept the write-in cast in his favor (while reiterating that he is NOT a candidate); however, Blair continues to lead with nearly 90% of valid preferences. Meanwhile, RGN continues to lead by a margin of two votes in the gubernatorial election. The electoral map in this contest remains unchanged, except that two votes have now been cast in the state of New Jersey (which is currently evenly split between Kingpoleon and RGN)

Abraham Washington's vote is invalid because he just registered in Atlasia today.  You have to be a resident of the Northeast for the 7 days prior to the election to cast a valid vote.

His Atlasia registration is also invalid, because he only registered on the forum April 24th.
