Why are so many going for Canada?
I'm not sure. Having lived in two of the countries listed here (UK and Canada) and having at least been to all of them, I'm not convinced that Canada is the best choice. Canada's stifling social norms, strong monarchist tradition and relative lack of socialist influence make it not quite as suitable for American progressives as they might think. Everyone I've talked to who's lived in both Canada and the US agrees that they're "so similar, yet so different". I still believe that Australia is the most suitable country for this question.
