I don't vote for or against states due to ideology. I certainly have a bias against some areas of states, but not against the whole state.

From states I've visited, I love New York, despite it being Democrat.

From states I want to visit, California is high up. I do hate Berkeley due to ideological bias, but I can name so many places I want to visit in Cali, regardless of politics (San Diego, LA, SanFran, Laguna Beach, etc...)

Since my political opposition is everything, I'll just do a favorite red/blue/purple state thing.

Red: Texas
Blue: Oregon
Purple: Colorado

If we go like that, for me it's probably:

"Red": Texas
"Blue": California
Purple: Nevada, or if that's too "blue" to count, Florida.

Agree. Which says a lot about Ohio that both avatars can say this. Wink

Australian State/Territory: Victoria
American State: Maybe one of the New England states? I'll say Massachusetts.

I've only been in swing or blue, but I think there's probably some places in Utah that are lovely.

All the Western red states would qualify, but I'll go with Alaska despite never having been there.

North Carolina is pretty nice for a (lean) conservative state. Large cities, good universities, mountains, and beaches.

I love California for all those reasons, even though I would basically be seen as a crazy right-winger here in the Bay Area.

Being able to do my 3.5-mile run every day on this trail is pretty darn uplifting:

I have visited neither. Sad

Probably Kansas. I have a weird affinity for "boring" states.

Louisiana, on the strength of Cajun cuisine (the best regional food in the USA) and New Orleans, one of America's sadly few Real Cities.  Hope it lasts the century.

Runner-up is Kentucky, because bourbon.

Good question.  From first appearances, probably Massachusetts.

Tough one for me since thanks to the weather, the only state I'd really want to live in if I had the choice is Washington, so I'm going to say Georgia mainly because I'm already here and it could certainly be worse culturally/climate.

In presidential elections, Illinois.  In state elections, probably California.
