Oh God yes.

I should start tallying how many stupid threads we'll have about how some random Senator or Governor should be on the ticket because he's GUARANTEED to lock up his home state and/or help in neighboring states.

Hopefully the tickets get locked up pretty soon.

Yeah, the VP should be the guy who gets 2nd in the primary (except in re-election years).

Trump/Cruz vs. Clinton/Sanders isn't going to happen.

VP speculation can be fun, but watching other people's VP speculation can be cringeworthy. Especially when people suggest that any one person has a greater than 50% chance of being selected, or when people forget that any politicians exist besides the ones who ran for President this year.

It's both the best and the worse part. I love seeing the campaign's approach, and it was the most interesting chapter in Double Down but the lamestream media coverage is beyond awful 'Rubio will win Hispanics'

It's why I think candidates should run with running mates in the primaries.

Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree, seeing the actual logic behind the picks is great, but random internet speculation and the media cluelessly speculating is kind of stupid.

Yes, this forum is going to be insufferable until the conventions. I might take another break.

No. The worst part is definitely late summer of the year before the election when the media becomes convinced both sides hate their candidates and need some party elder to come in an single-handedly sweep the primaries...

...like Rick Perry and Chris Christie in 2011
...and Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren in 2015.

You forgot Mitch Daniels in 2012 and Al Gore in 2004, 2008, and 2016.

Voted no. Maybe not the worst part.
That would be the cringe-worthy pandering to socially detached political extremists that occurs during the initial primary stages.
But one of the more over-speculated parts for sure. The vast majority of VP spec. is just 24/7 filler.

Totally overblown claims about 'ticket balance' or 'swing state pull' or 'minority representation'.

This stuff just fills the dead period between when the primary races have fallen into a predicable routine and when thing are finally turning towards the 'final battle'.

half of VP spec. doesn't even bear fruit. How many news hours were devoted to Carly Fiorina as Cruz VP?   And she joined a candidate that had just 6 days left before with-drawling?Huh

Still I love this ISH, so I participate.
